I just purchased the game (first run). On ubuntu 13.10 and AMD fglrx drivers. After starting, a window appears and promptly hangs, forcing me to kill it. It complains about libudev.so.0, but libudev.so.1 is available on my system. Stop responding problem explained here: PA#2709 Check comments to bug and you'll able to bypass this problem by changing compiz settings. Though you can also switch to full screen using Ctrl+Enter and then problem disappear. There also workaround required to make game work with FGLRX: PA#2343 You need to run game with "--software-ui" flag and then press Ctrl+P to make UI update.
