    https://forums.uberent.com/threads/gamma-feature-reveal-replays-multi-planet-spawns-alliances.56911/

Since that thread is locked, let's talk here.

Multi planet spawn. WOOHOO!!! GONNA BE AWESOME. I'm a little concerned about the lack of invasion capabilities... but still. It's gonna be cool. I want to set up a system where two players start on two different identical (unmoveable) moons that are orbiting the same larger planet. Gonna be awesome!

I'm also really excited about the PIP snapping to notifications.

Alliance mode is a popular demand... but personally, I'm not overly interested in that game mode. Army is awesome.

    What are you excited about?

There is one thing I'm worried about.
    Regional pricing.
The game is still ridiculously expensive for my region and it's the main thing that holds back a lot of people. The reasons it was disabled in the first place are long gone and an arbitrary milestone date like this one is a nice opportunity to put price where it should be.

Regional pricing tends to be a problem because of the Governments of said country. There's not much that Uber can do to change any sort of tax/additional cost tacked on by a government entity(i doubt Uber made it cost more in some countries).

The only thing they could do possibly is to lower the price so ridiculously low that the government's added cost would still amount a "reasonable price".

Blame the government entity not Uber.

I am pretty sure there are countries where that is not the case. In many countries people simply cannot pay 60$ for a game, because that would be like half of their monthly income.
I think Uber currently is not making any price changes based on the financial power of the overage person in any given country.
It's a controversial thing though. If it's far cheaper if your IP is from country X people quickly turn to proxys or key stores. Not to mention the fact that it kinda feels bad to know that the very same product is much cheaper somewhere else for a reason that many people in richer countries have a hard time to understand.
Hard topic to handle for a small company like Uber.
Their solution probably is "expensive now, cheap enough for anyone later"

Yes. Blame your socialist government and its utopia taxes.

    Long live the Republic.

Do these people live in a third world country?

There are only two reasons Uber would change the price from it's base cost:

    Taxes were higher

    OR

Shipping/delivery to that country is risky/more expensive (China, for example)

    Basic business practice people.

Yes, that is the case. Price is the same as everywhere else and that is the problem, because average welfare is lower.

If I recall correctly, Uber disabled regional pricing to make it fair for Kickstarter bakers and preorderers, but all those people are already in the game for quite a while. Uber may want to hold the price until release, but I really see no strong reason for it.

Actually from a pure business perspective it is a pretty wise thing to adjust the prices for the income of a given region.
    Take 2 countries:

    A: Average income 3k $
    B: Average income 200$

Now Uber goes and sells PA at 50$. People in A will all buy it. But nobody from B will be able to pay for that kind of luxery.
So the income from B will be 0$.
If instead Uber asks for a price of a 10$ in B, more people will be able to buy it. Any person buying will be a win because the act of copying PA is practically free.

So from a pure business standpoint you should always ask for the highest price people in a given country can pay to maximize profits.
Ofc "maximizing profits" scares of some people in A, when the hear that they only have to pay 5x as much in B because Uber is trying to maximize their profits. As I said: controversial.

Also I don't know about russia, but I am pretty sure that it probably is not very hard to go to store.uberent.com and buy directly from Uber without paying any taxes to your local government at all.

    On topic:
I hope for quick fixes for the pip bugs, so we can actually start modding cool new features with them.
Modding pips so far was more about finding workarounds for bugs. :S

REPLAYS??? Yes! Finally! Send me replays of your epic games so i can make timelapses from them. I have quite a lot of free time now so i could make one each week or maybe more if i'm lucky.

I'm hoping multi-planetary start means multiple starting planets you choose from, rather than player A being forced to planet A and player B being forced to planet B. But it could be even better for FFAs, or team games where you're desperately trying to count how many commanders are on the planet and before you know it the one that spawned elsewhere is raiding your lightly defended economy moon...

My only worry is that Deep Space Radar, combined with a permanent view of the solar system in your PIP, will make surprise space attacks impossible.

I'm not so sure about snapping a pip to notifications. It just seems like it would be really distracting at the best of times, and completely useless when you need it most. When you are losing a base and getting a dozen notifications seconds apart from each other, it would be impossible to follow. I have done some experiments with the pips, and I think a much better way of doing it is to have a new pip pop up as a mouse tooltip whenever you hover over a notification.

I took it to mean that when you click on one the PIP goes there. I like the idea of it happening automatically if I can configure which events cause that to happen.

I'm excited for the new random solar system lay-out. More planets, asteroids, multi-planet spawns. PA is entering the phase of grand scale, scale never seen before. I hope you no longer have to always make systems in the editor to get something you like (more than two planets, asteroids), that should now get randomly generated for endless fun.

I think they mean you set a pip (We can have more than one) to always show the location of the newest notification. I have made an update to the Alerts Manager mod that lets you hover the mouse over a notification to see it in a new pip. It actually works really well, but there is a strange bug I haven't been able to track down that causes some beeping noises sometimes even when there are no notifications. It's... strange. Still, it works as a proof of concept.

Like the multiple planet spawns (A team feature or also FFA?)
Not a fan of alliances I prefer the shared Army mode as I have not seen this in other games and love it :)

I agree with this, but you quickly start to reach a point where people go to the cheaper country to buy the product instead of just sticking around to buy the local product. This is an ONLINE game, after all. And people will start whining about unfair business practice too - like they already have. Lol. It is controversial, NOT.

Uber is trying to make money. As long as they don't subvert someone in an illegal manner, it's fine. That's how profit works.
