I spam click quite a a lot. It has no real bearing early on other than keeping with a good rhythm. Later on I spam click a lot less but am able to issue more order as I am warmer. An apm of 120 is more than enough for this game. 120 for mouse middle button and 150 if you use wasd.Aim for that and you will be fine.

The pastats counter is a little buggy atm anyhows.

The main blockade between me getting an APM higher than 60 is lag.

It's frustrating how long it takes me to click on stuff and tell units to do things – if they do them at all. :-/

APM can only carry someone so far in this game, which is how it should be.

If you are clicking like a snail, you should be disadvantaged, after all it is Real Time Strategy.

BUT there needs to be a point, and a fairly low point, where strategy trumps APM, and I think PA is fairly close to that point, since the "microing" of armies usually involves clicking a half dozen times setting a waypoint path around defenses and into the heart of their base and moving on.

As long as a game is real time, speed is a factor. Deal with it.

Pure strategy only happens when time stops existing.

My average APM early game is 150-160.

My average APM late game is 60-80.

    I feel your pain brah

It sucks. Late game, I have to wait a few seconds or more to make sure my click actually registered before I can move onto the next action.

Which is why I mainly stick to commentating and working on PA Matches rather than playing. :-(

I always assumed that the reason for that was to get around latency issues. I asked a friend about it when they were playing a MOBA, that's what they said.

At least in starcraft 1 the pathfinding is so horrible that if you don't force units to constantly re-path they will get stuck on each other, the terrain, and nothing at all, run off on their own etc. You actually do need to click at least 5 times to make any sizable group of units go anywhere.

SC2 pathing is a lot better so there's really no good reason left.

My meta-goal over the course of PA is to beat all the top players at least once, preferably with a much lower apm than them. Looks like I'll have to speed up to have a shot at matiz on this form :p

APM is so overrated in this kind of game :D

Heh. We should probably be quiet. Matiz will get smart and learn how to be flexible :D

Then I'd have to go all Ender on him lulz.

Now THAT is someone that I'll enjoy figuring out. He isn't consistent and he seems to wander at times - but it's with a purpose for sure.

In tourneys he goes from a playful tiger into a really angry panda.

I've seen him rush t2 bots. It can be scary if you imagine them as little trolls. :p

Maybe with Godde there'll be a special goal instead, like lasting over 20 minutes. My best (and only) attempt is 16 minutes.

What hit me hardest in this thread is that someone labelled a GIF of a badger as anteater-nope. I mean, seriously?

Actually looking at the APM graph of that game it seems matiz was just bored at the start of the game and spammed as fast as he can. And well that's 600 apm xD The moment the real game started he dropped to ~175 apm

    APM is faster.

    Not smarter, nor better.
