10 reasons why you should attend the tournament

Hi guys,
this is a promotional thread to the new tournament Martius Mayhem, that will take place on saturday 1st March 18:00 GMT / 13:00 EST / 10:00 PST.

If you didn't sign up yet for any reason, there are couple of them why you should attend. The tournament is running on very fair system called Swiss Style tournament, in which you always get matched (excluding the first round) with players of the same skill, so you really don't have to be scared to come even if you didn't play many games online or you are struggling to win games. PACE is organizing these tournaments for everyone!

Now to the reasons:

1. You will get valuable experience.
   • You will play six 1v1 matches matched against similar skill players, you will get valuable strategic experience, that will make you much better in future. Don't worry about losing, in lost game you learn much more compared to those you win. Just don't forget to review the game!
2. You will meet with top players, casters and even developers.
   • There is many people attending the tournament that you have heard of. Players who currently dominate the 1v1 ladder will be in the tournament and you might get a chance to talk to them on Teamspeak or chat with them. You will also meet great casters such as ZaphodX, WPMarshall or OathAlliance. Last but not least, you can bet that some developers will show up for the tournament, just like last time!
3. Your games will get on Youtube.
   • There is a big chance, that your game will be casted live on Twitch and later appear on Youtube. It is your chance to be on the spotlight!
4. You will help to test the game.
   • This is why developers are interested in our tournaments. It is many matches in a short time and on competitive level. Developers of PA want to make sure that the game is balanced on such a level, otherwise there would be no chance for PA to become a reasonful eSport.
5. You will get to know new people.
   • If you are talkative enough on IRC or Teamspeak, you will get to know many new players and possibly get to know couple clan leaders. This is your good chance to get new friends or get a new clan. Clan members often attend the tournaments, many of them, so there is many to choose from!
6. You can win a cash prize.
   • Just like last tournament it is very unpredictable, who will dominate the rankings! It can be you, who will shine, will win a lot and with a bit of luck end on 2nd or 3rd rank. First three ranks take cash prize!
7. You can start your PA career.
   • Ever dreamt of casual players recognizing your name? People saying "Oh this is him, let's join his game!" If this is what you want, start building your name now. Climb the ladder and get famous!
8. You have a good excuse not to do anything else.
   • Looking for a good excuse why not to attend (insert an event you definatelly not want to attend)? "Hey, I am in this super important tournament and I can win some money, I need to stay home!" There you go, stay home and enjoy your saturday dose of Planetary Annihilation!
9. You will have a good time.
   • We all do this for fun. Organizers, players and casters. We wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't fun to do. Come and share the fun times with us, I guarantee you will have a good time.
10. You will make me happy.
    • Since I couldn't think of a better 10th reason ... but it is true! You will make me happy, I want a full roster of players, I want a big battle, I want a big audience and I want all of us to have a good time. Without you, neither of these is possible.

What if the thing I don't want to attend has cake? Do PA tournaments have cake?

Firstly i want to say, great job on organizing these tournaments, to all involved.
Secondly I was wondering if mods are allowed, things like hotbuild2 or the economy efficiency ui.

I probably won't compete but do enjoy the casts afterwards.

Maybe it's a good idea to announce tournaments like this on the steam forums aswell, maybe with a link to the official threads and the streams, when they go live.

Thanks, there is a big work from many PACE members behind every tournament.

Mods that are part of PA Mod Manager are ok to go with, including hotbuild2 and economy efficiency.

oh well, I do most that other stuff on other days anyway. For instance, you have no clue how often I talk to zaphodx and wpmarshall. Some of those points I could argue are reasons to join the Realm, clopse can argue to join the promethian, and gunshin could argue to join ballistics logistics, because you get experience structure and exposure to top players that way too.

Available people should play in a tournament just to play in one. Winning is nice, but most tournaments ensure a fun game mode and a guarantee to play several rounds.

By joining tournaments you also make the community grow and Planetary Annihilation will be more popular and will live longer. If there will be more people in tournaments it will be easier to convince sponsors to invest in PA, because we will be able to show them attractive numbers. Then there will be more tournaments and that always mean people will be more active(practice before tournament etc). If more people will be active then there will be even more people active because active people bring friends, make streams on twitch and videos on youtube. Then people who watched youtube videos might buy the game and this is how we conquer the world and overthrow Starcraft 2 as a prime RTS game. Every sign-up matters a lot in the long run.
