i think you're right. just tried it, and it doesn't LOOK like you're drawing a line to be built, but when you release but button, there they are, all queued up in a neat little row.

Yes, it bothers me. I'm one of those people.

I think that an important aspect of the solar arrays is the lack of space they use on the ground. I would like to see them provide a variable amount of power depending on how much light is on them, from 500 to 7000 or something along those lines.

You misunderstand. It's not that I want them to be reliant on ground stations, just receive a boost to output.

What? You were saying that airplanes should be able to fly without air in another thread.

Because it's the future and they can already VTOL and apparently have infinite fuel.

That makes them perfect spaceships as well.

You either don't care about the details or you don't know how airplanes work. Not sure which one it is.

Perhaps aircraft only being able to hover would be an interesting concession. Can't go to flying mode without air. Unless they're like... jet powered.

    How do airplanes work?

Their wings generate lift and when the aircraft turns it displaces air which means that they can turn without generating thrust in a different direction.

Take the Messerschmitt 163 . It were a rocket propelled aircraft so it could potentially generate thrust in space unlike jet engines or propellers. However without aerodynamics, its' rudder and wingflaps are useless so it cannot change direction in space.
Likewise even after all the fuel had been used, it could change direction in the atmosphere without any added thrust as long as it have airflow over its' wings, flaps and rudders.

Therefore you admit that you only care about the details when it suits you.

Good to know. I'll be sure to remember that you're not rational in a debate.

Depends on how stupid it is. I invite you to guess what I think of this particular topic. Stop picking fights where you don't need to.

    apologies.

Goode, I'll let you take back over. Apparently I'm 'not allowed' to back you up in a public forum debate for some strange reason.

Don't mind nano, he has to grow on you to like him.

I find him really quite witty nowadays, but I used to think he was quite the jerkass.......so now he's a funny jerkass.
