Build 61250 was glorious. So silky smooth...

But now 61450 is back to gravel.

    What happened?

    Is it just me?

    The AI is better though.

It seems to be happening to a portion of the player base. Can you give a little more detail? Like graphics card, processor, fps, vram usage, graphics settings, etc. If I recall correctly your a Mac.:)

    Thank you

PIP does indeed drop FPS by half, however even with it off, late game degenerates like it used to.

    Running AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, 8GB RAM, AMD 7850 2GB VRAM, Windows 7 64bit

edit: uber settings, hdr and AA off

could this be an AMD problem? varrak mentioned he was doing more for nvidia than AMD if I remember correctly.

Lowest graphics settings with HDR on.

Mac. 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 processor. 8 GB RAM. ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB.

I am a month or two away from getting a new beast of a computer. I cannot freaking wait. I'll be able to run everything maxed out. :-D

I never even tried using PIP.

Most of players have performance drops in late game, videocard vendor not so important here I think.

I'm using a Z820 rendering workstation with Dual xeon processor, 32GB ram and an Nvidia Quadro K5000 and get very bad performance in "medium-late" game even with pip disabled. Very strange considering the stats of that particular PC.
Several weeks ago there used to be performance drops when 6 players were unleashing thousands of tanks and planes on each other, but this occured while i was playing against a single AI and there werent many units on the field.

its not the performance drop itself that is concerning, it is that it drops so much. Last patch it took more to get things to start dropping.

better than the patch before last I'd say, but it seems a bit weaker than the last one.

For me, the newest patch is worse than the patch before it. :-/

Game should almost have a in game logging of performance so that after you leave a game you should submit the statistics to uber or something. fps, system specs, so forth.

My brother had far worse performance with this latest patch, he uses a Geforce 460. I have a 765m and I would say my fps was similar to before though it spiked a lot and had a general lag like effect of stuttering mid to late game. On paper (using the GPU-z tool and looking online)my graphics card and the 460 (his is a little faster than a normal one) are very similar but i get much better performance, double the performance I would say. My card has 2 gig of RAM in it and his only has 1. We were only using a little over a gig according to the info screen using Ctrl-P though so would that extra memory really make that big of a difference? My processor is a modern i7 4700MQ while his is an old core 2 quad. The sim is done by the server though so I wouldn't have thought this would make such a big difference? We both have 8 gig of RAM.

I was getting 60 fps at the start of game with PIP off (30 with it on)

1 standard sized metal planet and a tiny lava moon.

I ended the game getting less then 6 fps with PIP off. I forgot to check the sim speed but it was noticeably slow. I'd guess less than half.

I've seen worse, but it still seems like a step down. I played that map several times on the last patch without these problems (this game did go on longer but I don't think THAT much longer)

I read a couple days ago that driver updates may play a role in performance this patch. It's worth a look.

I can see why you're having performance issues. I was talking with varrak said PA requires 1 GB video memory. It's getting the extra RAM that it requires from the main memory and as a result performance decreases. I would turn off HDR and make sure all the settings are lowest or off.

When I read your card's vram I believe my exact comment was holy carp.

I feel your pain, brother. I had that same exact card just yesterday.

I know you know this, but I'll just say it anyway to brighten your day a little bit and refresh your hope and anticipation of your new box: yesterday I replaced my 4850 512mb with a GTX 760. O.M.G. the difference! There's no comparison.

I think just if your graphics card is weak performance will be worse on this build. If your CPU is weak performance will be better on this build.

    I'm running a 7850 (2GB version), hardly a weak card.

EDIT: Have updated to the beta driver and have a 10-15 fps base level increase (60-70/75) from before.
Unfortunatly I have to coax the game to render the planet by changing the settings back and forth until it loads properly. Kinda annoying.

Will play a full game soon and see how it fairs late game.
