Everyone wants their cakes quantum, apparently.

(To clarify: have the cake and eat it too)

I like the changes. Right now, the balance is amazing. No one strategy can win all the time.

I think the size of the maps and the intended general length of gameplay are important to consider with these changes.

The "maps" in these games are huge, bigger than most traditional RTS's in general (yes I know TA had some ginoromous maps). This means unless you start right next to each other, or go first air, rushing is probably going to take a bit. I'd bet some faster ground assault units are coming, but even "rushing" is going to take some time. I realize there's still a ton of room for change, but in general I hope this doesn't become a game where a lot of brutally efficient game ending strategies are in the 5-7 minute range; it's usually not fun for me to watch or play a game that short.

@scathis ,How about a penilty for the pelican when
    Transporting a commander?

Make an exception that "when transporting a commander, speed is drasticly reduced due to weight or mass.

Then move it back to t1 so we can hot drop some infernos.;)

One thing to think about when suggesting fixes: Simple is better. If you start adding in magic numbers and magic behavior that's not obvious by looking at it, it makes for confusing gameplay, but also, it makes the underlying game code that much more complex. More data to track on units, more modifiers, more places that things can break.

Let's play this way for a while, and we'll certainly revisit a lot of balance changes in the future, but now we can move on to another topic for the time being. We have 16 pages basically dedicated not only to a single topic, but a single move in a single topic. Seems like there are a lot more things we could be talking about and playing around with?

Just to reinforce what Garat said: This doesn't work because it's magic and hidden behavior. I generally stay away from designs like this because all it does it hurt the non-hardcore player.

I don't see the transport moving back to T1. As I stated earlier, it was breaking the pacing and the gradual opening up of the game. I want to see the game expand as you play. From the time you start till the time you end the strategies you have, the area you can cover, the strength of your army, and the sheer amount of moving parts you have to manage should grow. The T1 transports negated the expansion of area cover. They made it so you started having access to the whole planet.

You can still do inferno drops, it'll just happen a little later. Build a transport, they come out of the factory fast.

I love you so much right now.

Amen to that, this patch rocks my balls. Sure there's still some adjustments to be made, but for the most part it's fantastic.

....the best adjective you could come up with is rocks my balls? I often wonder how we can go from civilized gamers in a vibrant online community to toilet jokes in the span of minutes. It's concerning. And funny.

    REALLY funny. :p

Both happened. First I did it to him, and then he did it to me. I found both hilarious.

Uber cannon definitely really needs negative energy to prevent it firing outright, or aversely effect it somehow, t2 air-transports wont stop com-rushes when they have unlimited d-gun use..basically.. people are going to troll for lolz more and more.

    I have to disagree here.
If you load up the transport and it moves really slowly, you will get immediate feedback. There is nothing hidden or magical about that.

If we have other big units and a transport flies fast and you pickup a commander and it flies slow, it doesn't make sense. It feels awkward or just buggy. Then we need some sort of feedback mechanisms and all kinds of craziness.

could we not have all big units make transports sluggish? ie mass/weight to speed ratio?

We could but why? I feel like there's a problem being invented here. There is no issue.
