Ha, the very notion that a few fans giving feedback on this site would change how the transport is built, just boggles my mind. I hadn't played it when transporters were T1, but looking forward to giving them a try in the new build!

Yeah, its almost border line "im getting owned by unit x, fix it"

The transports where fine in t1. Putting your com on a transport is risky by the way.......

As long as it's a rush you can counter and doesn't force your entire game it's a good rush. The 2 minute comm thing was another thing all together.

But I do agree that transports need to be t2. Have you ever tried a vanguard drop?

But if I said "PIP" no one would have a clue what I was talking about.

Everyone knows what a mini map is.

I just want to have multiple PIP/mini-map windows. One is nice. 4 would be truly awesome.

I am REALLY looking forward to that.

    That, plus multi monitor support?

    Going to be SO AWESOME.

Multi planet management is going to be a breeze.

That'll tank performance even more though!

I think the official reason for the change to T1 transports is not the comm rush, but to prevent transports from being used to create low-risk early expansions. If you want to expand early, your choices are to walk a bot there (slow), walk your commander there (slower) or use air fabricators (fast but easily killed by fighters).

T1 transports, as implemented, negated this choice. You could just fly your commander or fly fabrication bots to a new area and expand very rapidly without the risk or loss of efficiency that comes with air fabricators.

I still think they should reduce transport speed to be equal to tank driving speed, so that transports are more to get around obstacles (especially water and lava) rather than a way to turn slow units into fast units. If they did that, then T1 transports might actually be okay again.

I see the "comm rush" issue as totally secondary to the fact that T1 transports made air fabricators pointless.

But it will be an option.

If your computer can handle it? Use it! If not, no harm no fowl.

Well, when the game is fully optimized and we have more planets, more players, more performance, more windows... I think it is time I get my brain updated, what you guys think about 1 or 2 additional eyes? ^^

Yeah. I don't get why Uber is calling it a Pip/Picture in Picture.

but it's BETTER than a minimap, so the term "minimap" is kind of derogatory :p

    Because it's not a minimap.

It's as close to a mini map as we can get in PA.

If I tell someone to open up the "PIP" they won't know what that is and will ask me what it is. If I tell someone to open the "Mini Map" they'll know exactly what it is and ask me how.

Either you're beign sarcastic or you missed my point :)

A minimap is a known element of RTS games. This is not a minimap. It does not behave like a minimap. Calling it a minimap is incredibly misleading.

Then we think differently about how close it is to a mini map.
