Hm. So, the PiP update just dropped, but now, after loading a system and entering a game, the main view is simply black. The PiP can be activated, and seems to display the system and behave as it should, but there's no switching between the two views, as there's simply nothing at all on the main screen. : \

This is not a *complaint*, mind you; more of a bug report. I'm running a GTX 660 Ti with the latest Nvidia drivers, 334.89. Is there a log I can submit, or anything else I can do to help troubleshoot the issue?

Cheers to the team, the latest update was boss! ...until it made the screen a blank void. :p Please let me know if I can provide any useful information.

Edit: Another odd detail - after downloading the PiP update, the launcher now seems to believe it's Build 59607. I've re-verified the files several times, but no luck. Thoughts?

Yes the launcher is saying it is '59607' and the game is saying '61450'. My PiP works fine.

Edit: The game works fine for me. No black screen.

Chances are, adjust your overall settings. It's unlikely that PIP in particular broke anything, but much more likely that some of the other underlying graphics architecture changes may have broken something. Set your graphics to low, and then work your way up. If one particular setting is causing the black screen, please let us know asap.

Launcher confusion is because we're prepping our new launcher. It's causing the old launcher to see the older update, rather than the new one - it's patching the right bits, but showing the wrong notes. I just threw in a temporary fix for it, but this will be a non-issue soon, once you're all using this:

Are you positive you're making sure your system is using the Nvidia chip, and not the intel integrated? You'll need to set a profile for PA.exe to make sure it's never allowed to use the Intel chip. Not sure if this is related, but.. Nvidia is our most tested platform, so I'm a little concerned. :)

I'm not going to use mods until the game is released. Better safe than sorry.

Sorry, got pulled away from the computer. The horror! I'm on Windows 7 64bit. I'll play with the mods and settings and see if I can find the conflict, but I might not get a chance 'til tomorrow. Will report back soon!

I got this the first time I launched a game, pressing F5 fixed it.
I then quit PA, disabled all mods, and launched another game, and it didn't occur.
I then quit PA, re-enabled the same mods and launched another game, and it didn't occur

Note: I could see the UI elements, just not the holodeck.

Yep, same thing here, black screen with UI on new game start. Pressing F5 caused planet to load, and played fine from there. I also have mods installed, so it seems there might be some sort of issue there.

Hate to play armchair dev but saw this a lot when developing games. If you are testing ANYTHING, especially a new release and giving developer feedback, its best to disable all mods first. They can't be relied upon to work between versions and just colour feedback. It's why i'm hesitant to install any.

mods are worth installing. Just always disable between builds.

unlike minecraft, here they help you control the game in an environment that gives you an edge against competition

This, give people time to update them, I'm sure in a day or 2 / 3 all will be fine ...

Mods seem to interfere with new builds in really unexpected ways, like the circle to line build mod disabling the new power plant lighting effect.

To the contrary, I've been surprised at how well my mods carry over between builds. Other than the issue above, I've never had any problems with un-updated mods in new builds (other than them just... not working. But nothing game breaking)
