Releasing tonight means a lot of angry spouses if they end up putting in time over Valentine's day weekend to fix big issues.

They don't need to be in the office to push a build.

Im not a fan of free to play either. But I also know of guys that enjoyed the game in beta. If they only made the game and put a 50 dollar priced tag and listened to the forums the game could of been good. Everything guys wanted in the forum they would do the opposite, artwork, gameplay etc. All guys wanted was a zero hour makeover. some guys just suggested making zero hour with better graphics. I would of been down for that. Cnc was killed every since cnc 4.

I was thinking this question today as well along with things like updates on the factions. I was even mulling over the wording of a post for a new thread.

But then, like a strange force across time and space i was able to sense Garat's mind working hard in the studio and knew in that moment all the answers. The answer to your question is "soon"(TM)

EA is the worst company i have ever seen.. I have never seen them make a game that is worth the money they sell it for. I'm a huge fan of sim city like sim city 4 and they totally destroyed that game in sim city.. Everything is wrong about that game and like someone else mentioned they ruined C+C too.. I just don't understand why they have not got into their thick heads is if they spend alot more time on a game and cut all this DLC crap then people would be more than happy to pay 30 pounds for a game.. I am so glad uber are doing what most company's don't do anymore and that is actually make a game worth paying for.. I love these sort of games and i was not a early backer because i lacked spare money at the time but i did pre order ages ago and i am glad that my money went to a nice company for a change.. if it was up to me i would buy majority shares in all these big company's just so i can screw over the company's to make them fall apart because company's like that do not deserve to stay afloat... even if i do loose a sh+t load of money because as far as i'm concerned it would actually be worth it.

P.s I did not buy sim city i played the last beta once and didn't look back and it seems i dodged a bullet there : )

Uh, all the hate against SIM city... It's actually good since all the updates! The only issue with it now is the small maps which can be frustrating. The actual simulation itself however is by far the most detailed in the series. You can now follow a resident from their home, to their place of work, to the shops and so on. Every person doing every task is fully simulated including all the traffic, it's really quite a spectacular bit of game design. It's true EA decided to meddle with it but I think it's unfair to deride what allot of good things the studio were able to do despite them!

By buying the new Simcity, you're defending a business practice where they charge $10 for a DLC which gives you a total of three new buildings and a reskinned bus network.

Except you don't need the dlc to play. It's not pay to win, there are no great advantages to the dlc stuff. The stuff included with the game is comprehensive. So on that basis I don't see the issue. What I don't like is where dlc packs are necessary to successfully play and enjoy a game. Remember EA are the publisher, not the developer.

Now if I bought the dlc you'd have a point :p

Sim City 5 is a terrible version of the game. The maps are INCREDIBLY tiny and the game has a super small building base because they want you to pay crazy amounts of money to expand upon. Not to mention the always online gameplay and server queues.

Buying that game encourages EA to continue to employ terrible business practices for gamers and for them to continue to kill good game series.

RIP Westwoood and C&C, the latest sim city sucks and so does EA.

Now lets get back to the topic.

I can understand them not being able to give us a release date, but maybe something like "late Summer" or something like that.

The scope of the game keeps on changing. They've completely re-done orbital at least twice now.

We'll probably get something more vaguely specific as we get closer to release.

Brian have you actually played it? I've played every SIM city... What your saying simply isn't accurate. The maps are small true. However offline play is now available. The standard game includes all the buildings you need and they are all very expandable, much more than in sc3000 and sc 4. The simulation its vastly more detailed than ever before and the fact you can share services and resources between multiple cities in a region does mitigate the small maps quite a bit.

When it was released there were some genuine concerns but the majority of these have been addressed. And you don't need any dlc to play the game. I get we don't like ea however the game really isn't that bad.
