All Tournaments need name suggestions that ask for one! Give some good tourney names for them!

At the moment the idea is 10 regular season tournaments with a Skill Showcase of the top players in the middle, with playoffs and a championship at the end.

Is it still 8 points to qualify for invitationals (2 points per win)? Seems like that might need to be raised if you want to keep it limited to 16 players unless you just do highest total. That's still a long way out though, so there's plenty of time to see what works and what doesn't.

Also, thanks for organizing all of this!

I was just gonna get 10 points and check out :D

Considering, only the top 5-6 players will get in I think, which means it will probably be the same 5-6 people every tournament. Im actually a little concerned about variety :)

Well with 16 contestants allowed into to invitationals, we should have enough variety (at least with the bottom 8), but I do think there is a big difference between the skill levels say between the top half and the bottom half of that pool. Maybe two league playoffs might be a better choice, similar to a Platinum and a Gold from SC2. Right now, the majority of players are around that middle mark, so there would be more variety in that tournament. Winners of the "Gold" league and other players looking to start getting more competitive could jump up to higher levels of play.

Hopefully we will also see a lot more variety when the game is fully released and more people have access to the game.

As demand rises so shall the size of tournaments and the different levels of skill we host invitationals for. If there is enough people that we have to divide into two different leagues for then by all means we will do so. but at this time with the game being how it is, 64 slot tournaments seem to be the max size possible.

No I definitely agree with you that 64 should be the cap right now for the open Swiss tournaments. That's a pretty good sized pool, especially for a one day competition. My point was with regard to the invitationals. I just feel like it will be the same few players time and time again, so I'm suggesting a second invitational for another set of 16 or 8 players who won't place in the higher level tournament. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Please tell me those are Sundays ...

I see they aren't. C'mon bro seriously I feel you're limiting a lot of players but making them all on Saturday. Lots of ppl work on Saturdays amongst other obligations. Sundays I feel are free days for almost everyone. Hence Sunday night football in America.

Hence Americans aren't free on Sundays. I, for example, go to church.

    And watch football.

Sorry. you got beaten to the punch ;D

At this time, and for this first season we will probably only have the UberBowl at the end for the top of the top players. but, in future seasons we will expand, and maybe by the Skill Showcase in may we grow to an amount that calls for more slots in tournaments, or more tournaments in general. if this happens PACE will adapt and provide as much games as needed.

The time of day is just as important as the day of the week if you want international players involved in the tournament.

For example I'm in Adelaide Australia, and we're in daylight saving time at the moment, so when it's 5pm Saturday in SanFrancisco, it's 11:30am Sunday here. When we swap daylight saving times in the other half of the year, then 5pm Saturday in SanFrancisco will be 9:30am Sunday here.

Do you have ideas yet about what time of day these rounds would be played to get the maximum international inclusion?

at 7 pm GMT-0 then it is 11am for San Fran and its 2pm for NY. when tournaments last on average 3 hours or so with 5 rounds then its around 10pm in London by the end its around 5pm NY. this time allows Europeans to play in the night after there day and us Americans for mid day.

I think having two off-time tournaments would be fair. On of a friday that is later, and one on a sunday that is earlier.

That way there's at least an option for the people who can't make the Saturday games for whatever reason.

I do think that the current stated times are probably the best for the most people, but there's really no reason to not have some tourneys at other times.

Sadly most people work Fridays, so doing it at 11 would kill off mostly the US crowd.

If this league takes off, you will probably just need to have early rounds be in regional brackets. Trying to find a time that works for everyone in a community spread out so evenly around the world.
