Out of my ignorance, what are the options for speaking with your team mates now a day in PA? I was used to Roger Wilco, playing High Aces and some Papyrus racing games online. It was awesome. But also long time ago. I really hope you're not gonna tell me that now a days we gotta use Skype...
Teamspeak, Mumble, Ventrilo, RaidCall, Razer Comms Just a few off the top of my head! *Edited to add links. Edit again - Steam's built-in voice chat is also very usable.
I like teamspeak, I usually have an empty one but for 2 dollars a month it's pretty cheap. Feel free to ask for mine if ya need it.
I too remember using Roger Wilco playing Starsiege: Tribes back in 1999. Today I prefer TeamSpeak. I find it much better than Steam VOIP or Skype. The others I haven't tried.
Hej Clopse, I did not understand your offer. But it sounds a kind one. So Thanks in principle About the voice chat with your Teammates, how do you guys do, exactly? Do you already know each other, and are already in chat before to start the game, or do you connect after ward?
I've been renting my own vent server for the last 4 years. At 28 dollars for the whole year, you cant go wrong at that price.
Generally speaking, most VOIP solutions use a client-server structure. That is, you have to have a server in place first, then each person uses a client to connect. If you're looking to chat to friends, then you'll need to get a server from somewhere, then give your friends the IP and have them connect using that IP. Obviously Steam VOIP and Skype both offer their servers to you free of charge. EDIT: Yes, generally you have to arrange it beforehand, or you can give your IP to your teammate in the lobby if you're playing with a random.
Any thought to bringing this in game though like CS:GO? I feel like larger games or pickup games speaking is essential, typing between multiple people can be just too much work. Obviously clans and pre-arranged teams can use TS, but for those of us non-clans that play with others regularly, is there any yes/no/maybe answer from Uber on the topic?
always beforehand, you don't have the time or the means otherwise. and seriously who pays for a chattroom, honestly now. The PA Teamspeak is free. and there's a mod for it's overlay in PA
