So as some of you may have noticed, Steam's implemented a new Beta feature for tagging games (Go to menu Steam > Settings > Account > Beta Management). You can find the tags for each game on its store page.

Might be worthwhile ticking off some of the relevant tags on the store page when you get a second. Unfortunately, certain forumites have already been at this and are trying to spam tags about "price" "rudeness", and other things that they've been enthusiastically yelling about since day 0.

Hopefully with time the game will be tagged relevantly and the... slightly more upset tags... will disappear with the end of the beta.

On that note, any relevant tags you think should be added? I'm off-and-on on whether it should have the Giant Robots tag.

Just found out about this new feature, and I think it's pretty poor. The potential for abuse is huge. Furthermore, in the FAQ there's the following question:

In other words, you can't do anything about trolls. You don't even need to own the game to tag, apparently!

Beta is Beta. I suspect a lot is going to change with the system as time goes on.

Uh, it does sound like Steam have inadvertently provided an all-you-can-eat buffet feeding system for trolls, when will they learn?!

I'm also seeing complaints of spoilers being shown via the tags.

No doubt. But how they thought the current implementation was good to release I have no idea. Beta's should be opt-in, not forced on everyone.

This, + I also think that the tags shouldn't be applicable to early access games...

I mean take a player who only tried PA in the early alpha, another who played when Beta was released and not since and a 3rd who's playing it now- the impressions you'd get would be worlds apart...

In wake of games like War Z this is a necessary evil I think. Some devs don't care as long as they are making money, and others are downright criminal, never giving you what they promised in their pitch. It gives the community a way the warn others, like a review site (ie Yelp).

    Tagged as Awesome!

    edit:
They put it there for us to use so just get in there and help spread the word...

Not sure how I feel about that feature...

    We should tag PA anyways.

I thought it was opt in as part of the beta?

Fair enough. I pretty much agree then.

Can we go tagception and tag tags? Bring the fight to them, and tag dodgy tags as dodgy. XP

So as an addendum to the proceedings, the Tag system has had an update (pretty fast I must say), and now you can report other tags for one of the following 4 reasons:

    - Offensive/abusive tag
    - Not appropriate for this product
    - Not a helpful tag
    - Spoiler*

So in effect, we are actually doing as BulletMagnet suggested and going tagception on the proceedings by tagging the dodgy tags. So if you see someone trying to throw in a tag derping about cost, crassness or crapity, I'd recommend reporting it.

*Yes, as a fair warning, some jerks have been trying to post game spoilers as tags. Fortunately it hasn't been taking, but I'd advise a little caution when tagging story based games if you haven't completed them yet.

I agree that it's a necessity for this reason. Question is, are we going to see said criminal (or incompetent) devs whine about it?

Some of the tags we've seen are certainly ... interesting. That's for sure.

I've picked my favorite tags and reported a few of the troll ones. What else can I do? I personally think any slander towards the devs is absurd. They love us! Or try to! Lol

The bad ones should clear up if they only allow people who own the game to be able to tag it. In the meantime, if everyone tagged everything that wasn't negative, the negative ones could move off the top list...
