Anyone notice any showstopping bugs in this playtest? Fingers crossed for a patch tomorrow!

This build is getting juicy but we are having a hard time stabilizing it for release.

Would you guys rather have a build that has all this stuff but with more rough edges than normal?

I don't like buggy builds. I'd rather wait for next week and get the bugs worked out. Crashes are frustrating and losing due to a bug or crash is infuriating.

    Personally, definitely :)

Edit: but @brianpurkiss makes a good point for those that are very active in multiplayer/tournaments.

I would rather wait, hosting this weekends tournament and i would rather not go bald from stress right after starting a new job which will already do that.

No No NO NO, no... no.. NOOOO

We already had a build that was not as buggy but poorly stabilized at release. I've seen a decrease in players and interest in playing the game during this time because of it, including myself. I rather wait and have a stable build with new features, than play on another build that didn't have a tad polish on the performance side. Please for the very love of me going on teamspeak and having no people motivted to play the game and cry about low frame rates or performance issues, release before you add some bug and performance fixing time.

Edit: More stabilization on the net code side, if not the client optimizations as well.

I hope that new launcher comes soon, then we can have the best of both worlds

Despite what I said earlier, I'd prefer ya'll wait till after this saturday's Tourney to release so we don't have unnecessary rage :)

What about a middle ground - release a zip of the data files for the new build (as they currently stand), but don't enable it on the server? Gives us a chance to have a detailed look at the balance changes made so far, while still playing with a stable build?

This would also lessen my workload for the next build notes considerably :p

I would rather wait until its stabilized, its just going to frustrate people more because its such a good build you don't want it bugging out every game.

Isn't that from T2 bomber spam? Because that's what's keeping me off the server at present.

I'd say go for it. I can handle tiny 1-planet systems for a little bit if it means new units, especially getting the Inferno and Vangaurd (plus naval) working.

Oh come on raevn. You literally just asked garat to send you a copy of the build so you can release your awesome patch notes.

I see what you did there.....

There are enough changes that I'm sure something will be wrong in some way. We really do need to get something out soon though.

    Both side have good arguments:
the tourney will be far more interesting with new strategies been made on the fly, and lack of units is whats making it harder to me to convince my friends to buy/ play the game.

on the other hand if it is significantly lagger it may cause problems in the current community (streaming etc) (I'm not sure how laggy it is, just looked like a standard late game to me...).

I am personally more concerned with game breaking issues like random game crashes than lag - I have to deal with lag in this game after the 30 minute mark anyway :)

from what I understand they have the random game crashes down pat at the moment, its there seems to be extra lag. Hence the discussion.

Really? you haven't already just written a quick and dirty script to pipe the output of diff between old and new build files?

Would take like 10mins to go through it then and clean it up and post it.

Due to blueprint inheritance, you can't take changes to a single file at face value. Writing a script that takes that into account seems more effort than it's worth. Then there's the html/js files that need to reviewed manually to see what the changes to the code actually do.
