The Vaio VPCEA490X has issues with getting new drivers, or Windows Service Pack 1. You cannot get drivers from the Sony website, and I am now starting a dialog with them and AMD to see if they will create an updated driver. However, I cam here to see if anyone has, or can create a workaround.

The crash is a PA.exe error, which seems to be well known here and I am told by support that without the updates, I cannot play.

DxDiag is below for those interested in helping to find a workaround.

    Thanks for your attention,

What exactly issue you have with service pack installation?

I guess you already get proper answer. Update your OS first and then install latest mobile beta driver from here:

Compatibility error comes up on both 32 and 64 bit installation packages.

Sony exclusively releases their drivers, so AMD drivers will not work. The latest AMD driver is Dec 2010.

Did you actually used link I posted?

You shouldn't use "verification tool", it's broken thing do not work for any laptops.

This line is basically doesn't mater. ;)
AMD just posting those lines everywhere just like they show you verification tool that doesn't work

There is actually number of laptops that might have problems with backlight, but all those laptops are made by DELL.

Found out that it works! Seems good for Sony laptops.

    Thanks,
    174gjc

Well worth making a dedicated solution thread for those HP, Toshiba and Sony laptop users.

There are a lot of laptop and tablet users now,
Many laptops and tablets have issues updating video drivers to newer versions,

I had this issue too with my acer tablet, It uses an intergrated intel HD 4000 and acer have made it difficult to update to newer drivers.
I had to extract the driver and use the "Have disk" way of installing driver.

To write a dedicated thread to help these people may not be so easy.

I will try and write one with SXX's help.
