Two Teleporters Activating – bearing a peculiar resemblance to an old and popular TV show... something that had to do with stars... and gates... or something...

Old really? Stargate(Which I did watch on TV) was 97-07(SG-1) and 04-09(Atlantis). That ain't old. Star Trek: TOS is old.

One of the greatest Sci-fi series ever(perhaps the best in my opinion)...

I didn't really like Stargate until the SG Universe series. Was gutted when that series got cancelled, couldn't believe people complained because there wasn't enough action.

The Universe series was terrible. Most of those people were idiots and deserved to die. They were more concerned with their personal grudges and having the power than actually staying alive. And the little action they did have was TERRIBLE.

    SG1 was mostly good.

    I never watched Atlantis.

Atlantis was my favorite of the three. The show's first season was the best, but the whole series is definitely worth watching. I agree with you completely about Universe. I really just wanted everyone to die.

I liked universe, but it didn't really feel like Stargate....more like star trek voyager.

But I loved both SG-1 and Atlantis.

I liked the aliens in SGU, they felt much more realistic than in most other sci-fi series, especially SG1 and atlantis...

Sure, sure, but I thought it was pretty cheesy. I'm a huge fan of the more "realistic" sci-fi, where aliens are, well, alien. Except in star trek.

You know you are too old when you think Stargate isn't old ;)

Stargate SG-1 is some of the best Sci-Fi ever made! Hence my Stargate bug fix mod.

Oh, and that is one epic pic.

I'm amazed you didn't like Universe?! I think its certainly the one people are most divided on. I agree most of the characters were idiots (or at least the leaders), which created this brilliant (in my opinion) 3 way power struggle between civilian, military and scientists. I liked SG1 up until about season 8 where the humans simply got too powerful- fell into the Star Trek trap of: Catastrophic un-avoidable situation develops, magically solved with complex technological solution explained with a simple metaphor. Don't get me wrong I like Star Trek, it's just they always seam to conveniently have a new technology, previously unheard of, to hand when needed to solve almost any problem.

In SGU (particularly the first season) they were having to work with limited basic resources and fighting to survive- the power struggle was mainly due to the fact that there was always a question over everyone's motives- did Rush strand them there deliberately or was it accidental as he proclaims (and *IS* he actually trying to get them back), should Young really be in charge as he'd declined command of the mission initially and so on.

I also liked the Star Trek enterprise prequel (rather controversial I know) for the same reason, it's interesting to watch them deal with things without the range of complex gadgets on hand to solve all problems.

Atlantis was interesting in the beginning as well- although again I think it tailed off when they got complete access to everything.

I'd say a show that started 17 years ago classifies as old.. however hard that may be to accept, because it seems like yesterday. ;)
