For Backers Only: Megabot Experiment

    I have a idea for the megabot:
    Can you make differents megabots skin for the differents commanders.
    For design you can see the samourai armor for a aggresive style.

    I recently posted a design idea, which was called the "Megabot: Shogun Warrior". I don't know how much it would fit into PA, but you could mix styles and adapt it to the blockish PA style a bit.

    Imagine a giant robot with katanas which shoot energy waves, a backpack rocket launcher, which shoots a rocket artillery barrage consisting of spear-shaped rockets. I thought it would be a great mix of styles.

    This thread proves something quite fundamental in the Human logic. First our subconscious mind takes a decision. For reasons that we do not usually suspect. Then the conscious mind finds a justification for that.

    That's why good people with the best intentions disagree about stuffs.

    It seems to me that every units in the game is a placeholder for an idea. All those ideas have to be balanced in order to work together and create a game that's ultimately fun to play. Perfection is out of reach, but there are ways to make it work.

    It could work in endless ways. It just has to be good enough for us to like it.

    I still believe that the game needs Super Units. There are too many issues related to phases in which players control entire planets.

    So what if the construction of a Mega Bot would require the availability of a high number of Metal Extractor and/or Power Gens? Let's say 100. You need a planet to even start thinking about building it. But now you have one reason more for taking over a whole planet.

    Now, you are not going to use that super unit on a planet you control. So what if we could launch it towards planets controlled by the enemy?

    That way we would have a tool for putting a foot on an enemy planet.

    A very fun tool, indeed.

    Perhaps. But it would give us something to do in the boredom of our own planet, when the adversary is on another ;)

    THIS IDEA LOOKS SO AWESOME XD i agree that it could Mmaybe even be a bit bigger ;b) and the cost of this thing should be rival to a nuke IMO but holy crap that sounds like it would be aw

    I really don't want it to be like Supreme 2 when normal units are cut out of the game. This thing needs to be expensive and worth it. So when someone gets it up, the other players stop and go, "I hope that's not coming my way".

    I would like to see a Megabot's potential special abilities take time and resources to build.

    For instance, maybe it has a long range artillery system, but it isn't as good as a Hulkins, and recharging it takes lots of power.

    Make them non movable between planets. Perhaps having several capabilities that the player can choose would also be cool (eg Antiground, antiair, speed, armor, etc. Total number of points can't exceed a certain amount (but can be lower) Lower point Megabots are cheaper and faster to produce. Different weapons systems make them look different.

    I would love to see them in the game just so long as they're not OP, but of some use.

    i thinl they should take forever to build, be kinda t3, and make walls look like piles of sticks. like if you get 2 out at once you just spent a looot of time and resourses but i think it would be fun

    I'm not sure the context or by whom but according to Brian Purkiss the following was said today;
    “I”m pretty sure we’ll end up with some mega units.”

    However followed later in the stream a quote by Mavor saying;
    “Don’t believe anything unless you hear it from me.”

    Reason enough for a thread necro?... maybe
