Friends too cheap to buy the game, so I'm buying them all a copy.

Willing to pay $60 in BTC per copy as a fee for the service.

    welcome.

do keep in mind this is a completely unfinished game.
You could have waited for the retail product priced at 40$ and guaranteed you and your friends a better experience but I guess you did this in full conscience of all this, so welcome!

And I hope that the value of BTC doesn't suddenly skyrocket again now that he's just dispensed of a load ;)

Bit-coin is a bit expensive, isn't it like a couple grand for a single bit-coin now?

Yep. Dogecoin is where it's at.

I may have inadvertently started a Doge-mining fad in the Realm with that tournament I hosted a few weeks ago.

EDIT: One of our members went out and bought all of this in the last few days:

I have not been running constantly like a lot of people are. I just run on a night for around 8-10 hours.
I am also only running around 480 hashes as the card gets quite hot and the fans sound like a jet engine. I can get around 600 hashes.

    Yes.
Hash rate is how many calculations the card does a second. It is capable of around 600, but the card gets hot and very loud.

Doge is where its at until the next IT crypto currency comes out, and then people will be dumping Doge the same way LTC users are moving to Doge...

Here's the thing with all these currencies:

They're all pretty much interchangeable insofar as their function. They all follow the same adoption curve, and the vast majority of them share much of the same properties.

    • fungability
    • scarcity (minus dogecoin)
    • non governmental issuance
    • decentralization
    • open source
In this respect most of the Alternate crypto currencies are essentially clones of Bitcoin, where new users feel they could have a chance of being an early adopter and seeing ridiculous gains.

There is nothing wrong with this. Everyone wants to be an early adopter. Everyone wants to see their $20 grow into $20,000.

However, these gains will not last ANY of the cryptos, (especially Doge coin since there is no hard limit to how many will be produced) and with Bitcoin, it was never the point, merely the incentive to get the network started. Eventually we will reach a saturation point where the rate of deflation will decline to levels acceptable enough for any business to accept Bitcoin without worrying about volatility or the need to go through a payment processor like Bitpay or Coinbase to absorb the risk as Overstock.com and Tigerdiret.com currently do.

Bitcoin is light years ahead of traditional banking. Its efficient, transparent, and free from corruption and tyranny of modern finance. With this in mind, it leads to my only beef with altcoiners, as most of them are not seeing the big picture, that their coins are treading the exact same path bitcoin has tread before.

All to the same goal. This isn't just money, this is Freedom. This is why Bitcoin was created.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogecoin

Honestly, I don't care which coin changes the world, I just want to see it changed, and for the better. If its Litecoin that does it fine. If its Doge, Quark, Feathercoin, or any of the other cryptos, fine.

The free market will decide... So far its choosing Bitcoin.

    Edit:

Oh, not such a huge leap so far as buying all those copies of PA! I know they're going to love this game!

I ended up buying them from the Reddit Steam game swap community, from user dux0r. Thanks dux0r! Ended up paying $38 per copy :D

I'm no economist or computer techie, but it seems like this mining business is actually like printing your own money? Isn't that illegal? Also, looking at that wiki link, it seems like bitcoin is notorious for its volatility in value and for its use in criminal operations.
It's an interesting experiment in alternative finances, but for me something doesn't seem right about it just yet. Anyway, back on topic, glad you managed to get the keys, hope you get online soon for some epic games with your friends!
