Has the server been updated independently of the client? I just played an AI game, and in the replay I could see the AI commanders and their fabbers moving around building stuff.
At least for me it bugs like 99% of all times, resulting in a horrible broken replay. I can see my own stuff, I can see the enemy stuff I scouted during the game, but everything that was in the fog of war stays hidden.
Id say "Yes", uber can most likely fix Sim issues on the sever side or other back-end updates/fixes without needing to update clients. The client software is nothing more than the UI, art work assest's, and a few webpages (The basic content of the game is saved to your pc, and it's just a window to whats happening on the server) Everything of major importance (The game engine and simulation) is all server based.
Might have found something. I hit replay before the game ended and started jumping back. When I returned from the game over screen, I could see all the movement. It might be that you have to enter chronocam before the game ends to get all the details - I'll have to do more testing.
If true, this is a really interesting discovery. It also points to an easy permanent fix for the bug.
Yeah, if that is true, then we have just advanced the coming of annihilation by days, possibly more. Which is a good thing, in this case. Worth me getting off my arse and reproducing. To the Player VS AI game! EDIT: Didn't reproduce it for me. Mine still bugged.
Aww.... I will try again, this time I will pan ALL the way back right as I am killing enemy commander. Then, I will leave it back there until game resolves, then hit replay. See if that gets me better results. I just had game panned back almost a whole minute, is all. Figured I would pan it back before commander's death after I killed commander, but that didn't produce results, replay was buggy still. If someone finds the exact way you can get replays to work, and the exact place you rewind the chronocam to and the exact time you do it before game end and the exact position of chronocam playing or paused, then post details here.
The first time it worked I hit "back 10" to skip through the game. I think the second time I tried dragging it to zero, and got the usual long lag before it got all the way back. I don't remember if it completed before the game ended.
How do you guys even play a full game with a lava planet? The server always crashes on us when a lava planet is included mid-game.
weird. The automatchmaking currently is hardcoded to a lava planet and I have not seen any issues with that.
We played several games, custom made system, automatchmaking system, everytime when a lava planet was involved... server crash... then we changed the same system and switched from a lava planet to something else... game ended without a crash, same with matchmaking game...
Is it a server crash or a disconnect? I can usually quit and restart the program to reconnect to frozen/disconnected games, but I don't think I've ever seen a true server crash. I haven't noticed a trend with planet type, but I'll try to pay attention to that.
Link to the game? What do you mean, is there some sort of log? Well, we did this a few days ago, maybe Uber updated some server software? It was not a disconnect, a simple server crash for everyone in the game. After restarting the game, there was no notification to reconnect. Well since we found this out and I made a post on Bugtracker, we played without Lava planets (was a lucky guess from me), since then no crashes.
He means the PA Stats page for the automatch you said you did. *Edit* Your page shows 4 games, and none were from auto matches.
