Planetary Annihilation 2D?

    Hi Guys, I've been working on a project (that still doesn't have a name) for a few weeks and I guess it is time to share what is my plan. The main objective of this thread is to get feedback and ideas.
    The game will be a mix of FTL and PA and you will play in a huge galaxy, exploring the many solar system, planets, moons and asteroids. Lets start with a few screenshots to give an ideia of what I'm talking about:

    oh, just another point: I'm not an artist, currently, all sprites used in this project are from the internet. I hope to find an artits that can help me in the near future.

    - Galaxy Generator:
    You will be able to random generate galaxy using as input some parĂ¢meter to define the shape of the galaxy:

    Each white point is a star that cointain planets, moons and asteroids.Point your mouse over one of the stars to see information about the system and the stars that are linked (based on the players galaxy fuel, that allows him to travel to another solar system)

    When you select a system, you are redirected to the system view where you can see the planets and others

    Of course the planets orbit its star

    Select a planet (or moon) to center the view on.

    My current plans are:
    - The player will be able to build bases, armies and defences on each planet and moon. So there will be a "body viewer" where you can plan your base., build your arm an gather resources;
    - The player will be able to attack others planets/moons (be aware of planets that are already colonized);
    - The player needs to defend from attacks comming from the AI;
    - Build engines on asteroids and.... and you know! :D
    - There will be multiple goals, like: destroy this especific alian race, free a especific system from its rulers, colonize the whole galaxy (is it possible? lol). There are MANY possible objectives here, help me decide what will be in the game.

    Well, that is it for now. I could write a very long tread with all my ideas, but actually my plan is to get ideias from the community.

    I can't find it atm, but I remember a video on youtube that showed what an 8 bit total annihilation would look like

    I always liked games with starmaps. I don't know why such a vague thing, but Starbound, Star Control...

    I would definitely like to see this sort of thing.

    On that note, it sucks someone is sitting on the liscense for Star Control somewhere out there, and aren't doing anything with it. I hate things like that. Then again, it really is just a name, when a game can take any shape and have any name and actually be what I want. Still, infuriating when games don't get sequels because liscenseholder just sits for years.

    hello guys, just added two more parameters (the last ones):

    Density - Controls the amount of stars per arm angle;
    Proximity - Controls how close each star can be from one to another.

    Some samples below:

    I've plans to add some effects on the galaxy arm to look cool, but I will do this late in the development process.

    Predestination - Turn based.
    Distant Worlds - Yeah, the galaxy/systems are pretty much alike, but the gameplay is different. More info when I got it working
    Star Drive - Nothing to do with what I'm doing..

    stardrive itself is "pretty much" finished itself, playable but could need a bit of polish and content.

    but it got ditched in an effort to create a "pseudo" sequel,SDU (StarDriveUnity), which is 1. built anew ontop of the unity engine, and 2. a true 4x turn based game, where the original StarDrive is a "realtime actions RTS" with a "turn" counter which is pretty much just a timer in seconds... for some things like income or research.
