My 12 year old son (with consent from his mother) purchased PA thru Steam. The game will not run and we get the PA.exe stopped working error. I have gone through many forums and have tried the suggested fixes. Actually after the updates he doesn't get as far as he did before the updates before the game crashes. He has not been able to play the game at all since he bought it. I am desperately trying to get this to work because he really wants to play the game.
I have attached our dxdiag file. This is the most powerful system we own that he is trying to play the game on. Help getting this to work is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately you affected by problem explained here: PA#2834.
Your laptop have integrated graphics that is 1st generation of Intel HD so there is nothing you can do about that.

To be fair even if problem will be resolved I doubt this iGPU will have playable performance in PA.

What other systems do you own?

One of them maybe more capable of running the game.

If you can post DxDiag.txt of other systems you own or if you know what hardware is in them we maybe able to see if the game will run on another computer you own.

and on the inspiron laptop that crashes when starting a game can you post this file please..

    C:\Users\"YourUserName"\AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log\PA-00-00-00.000.txt
"Click sort by date so the most recent one is at the top, And post that one here."

On the odd chance that it's lots of shaders failing on the older intel GPU's causing a crash, i maybe able to make a fix for the issue.

The problem with any laptop or system using "integrated" graphics prior to Sandybridge is unfortunately pretty simple. The processors from that time were not truly integrated, and Intel has not updated those drivers yet to support Open GL 2.1 or later. Which is basically the bare minimum Open GL support we need to run our game. We'd love to actually make it 3.0+, but there are enough people that can't run Open GL 3.0+ yet that we have decided to not do it at this time.

We also need to get better messaging from our game when people are encountering hardware or driver issues that are causing problems, which is on our list of things to add better support for!
