I have a few things I would like to ask the community about what they want in the next generation of tournaments? some idea's I have been kicking around with some people are as fallows:

-Fun and enjoyable to all participating

    -Well Organized

-Competitive play for higher level players

-Learning possibilities for all players and levels of play

-Dedicated directors and officials for the tournaments.

-Community support(Includes Castors, Streamers, Mod Developers, and Sponsors)

-Prizes and rewards for all tournaments and events.

    -Championships

-Clan and Team involvement in multiple game classes(1v1,2v2,5v5)

    -Set universal rules

I would like to suggest some group divisions that then lead into death matches. This would allow noob players, like me, to have at least a few matches even if they don't get into the death match rounds, which I hope would make it more fun for every one.

A core idea of the next generation of tournaments is doing Swiss Style tournaments where everyone plays 5 rounds and gets to play people at there skill level all throughout the tournament

    That is a good system.

My only nick pick with this system is the ability to watch high ranking players live.
From the last tournament I was in even though I got knocked out in the first round it was still good to see other players play. I do understand that most likely games will be recorded, but it is certainly entertaining to watch a live game. You can completely disregard this paragraph. I am just giving you my two cents.

That is a big thing that will be needed to see. So in the idea i have is that in rounds 1-3 no casting or streaming will be done by others except if one of the players wants to stream, but in the last two rounds you can watch select matches via casters and them being recorded. I know live play is huge excitement to watch which is why I am also going to have some invitational tournaments happening over the season to showcase skill and have them be exciting to watch by the normal player base.

I definitely feel there were some problems with organisation and dubious selection of the systems to play on but overall I felt the tournament was a big success.

We learn a little with each tournament and I can't wait for the next one.

So reptarking, are you planning a tournament that is spread over a couple of weeks rather than all on one day?

I envisioned Tournament for Teams (2 vs 2). Where contenders could join as a Team of 2, or being randomly matched with an available team mate, if they don't have any.

That way you create a different kind of tournament (for teams), and encourage people to meet and collaborate, as well as to share knowledge during the game itself.

Also, a team of two people could exploit at higher degree the potential of the game and we would likely see more orbital activities and planetary smashing.

Tournaments for Team may also promote Clans a bit better than the equivalent for single player.

I can't wait for the fully finished game tournaments, where exploits are hopefully absent!!! Going to be awesome!!! Watching godde vs matiz was great!!!

The biggest problem with teams tournaments is that team games are played like dual 1v1s.

Would you mind elaborating? I don't really get what you mean by this.

2v2 is still 1 team vs another just more build power.

no, it really is just two 1v1s played on the same map. proof is the last two 2v2 tournaments that were played. me and colin had pretty much no 'teamwork' because we both knew what we had to do with each unit/place on the map.

Ok but not ever instance is like that, regardless its still one color vs another. No matter if you spawn together or separately.....

I don't think Gunshin was talking about spawn points. I think he was talking about that 2v2 is just dual 1v1, that is Gunshin went after one person and colin went after the other. But there is always the case of actually joining all forces and go one target after the other.

Mmh, I don't know that. You surely have more experience on the field. Still I imagine that different teams may have different strategies and styles, and it may not necessarily be the unique case.

Are you sure that there is no added value in synchronize forces?

You fail to understand the meaning. Team armies IS a 1v1 with multiple players. For some reason, most of you have this concept that you own an army in team armies, or that a base is yours to control. this is not the case.

Since we seem to be far gone in the nitpickery already, isn't a 1v1 with multiple players a valid description of teamplay?
