I'm pretty sure the southern hemisphere is imaginary. Uber realised it wasn't Austria.

We're just beyond the bit of map that reads "Here be dragons", except it's mostly spiders...

I've often felt like I was imaginary, now I know it to be true.

There's been a bunch of threads on the forums and reddit about the Aussie servers.

As far as I've seen, there's been no explanation from Uber, which is weird.

    Possible Reasons.

    1) Frodo wore the ring.
    2) Crocodiles.
    3) Overwhelmed by lizards.
    4) Servers overheated.
    5) Raided by orcs.
    6) Stung by a jellyfish.
    7) Stolen by a Haast Eagle
    8) Staff ran out of water, dehydration.
    9) Staff had a boxing match with a kangeroo.
    10) Drop bears.
    11) Snakes.
    12) Dragons.
    13) Spiders made the servers their nest.
    14) Too busy waltzing with a girl called Matilda
    15) Shark attack.

Now that I'd believe. It hit 45C (113F) today in Adelaide.
We're expecting the same again, or higher, tomorrow.

Sydney skips this heatwave, which is nice for a change. I'd bet money they're hosted in Amazon, which I'm fairly sure is in Mascot.

It will be over 40C until friday,
It was 45C in my backyard @ 3pm, amazingly there was a quick storm that passed by dropping the temp about 10c, it's still 32c in my backyard and it's 9:15pm.

Tomorrow is meant to be hotter than today,
    My airconditioner is workin overtime..

Worst of all i live next to the beach and it was too damn hot to even relax on the beach..

What's the surface temperature of the sand?

Because the other day, air temperature was 24. I left this solar thermometer thing in the sun and it quickly hit 47 degrees.

    Explains the black sand dash...

I'm seeing Australia right now, as we speak. Both in our admin panel, and in game trying to connect to that region.

There aren't a lot of slots available currently, but they are there.

They were down for a couple of days. I got a message yesterday saying that my selected region was unavailable, please choose a different region.

If I had to guess, I'd say there was an Amazon Cloud Services outage in the Australia region, though I don't think we got any notification of such. If it was down for longer than a very short period, we should have been notified.

Summoning @ubermaugustine, as he may be able to shed more light on the matter.

We were doing some server maintenance and it took a little longer than usual for the updated servers to start.

    Ok that's cool.

They were down from Friday night or Saturday morning my time, it's Wednesday morning now.

@garat - the lack of communication was probably because of any of the reasons on my list.
