This game ended in stalemate: http://www.nanodesu.info/pastats/chart?gameId=22290 There should be a stalemate button that all remaining players press when they agree it's a stalemate to call a draw, instead of players quitting when they get bored. I agree that as new features get added, the chance of stalemate decreases, but a stalemate button would still be valuable then. It doesn't matter too much, just an annoyance, but particularly annoying when using pastats for result tracking. I realise I may be spamming the forums with requests like this. If there's a better way to voice my opinion then please let me know. Then again, a forum seems ideal for this as other people can give their opinion too.
Seems overly pre-emptive to add this before half the game is ready. Unit cannon/teleporter/orbital overhaul/complete balance rework will likely make stalemates far rarer. Wait for near the end of beta and see if we still need it then.
I think stalemate buttons would still be good in the finished game. For example epic battles fought in epic systems may not technically be stalemate, but if it gets to two remaining players wholly controlling their own planets, it could be boring and long enough that neither wants to see the game through to completion.
Stalemate should never ever ever ever ever happen in the finished game. If it does then balance is off somewhere. So request patience, WIP
And even now, with the unit limit as high as it is, you can just build thousands of orbital lasers and brute force it.
I don't think that's really true. If two players are perfectly and evenly matched in every way, there's a good chance that, unless one makes a big mistake, the match has a decent chance of being a stalemate. I've seen this happen in SC2 on occasion, and the balance (while always being slightly adjusted) is pretty spot on.
But remember that Starcraft 2 has limited resources available on the map, PA doesn't. In PA, Evenly matched players will be able to fight until a mistake DOES happen. Mike
No such thing as perfectly matched players, extremely close yes but perfect no. The scale of this game is to large for someone not to make a mistake.
I think we should wait and see how the game is like when it's finished. There's some big changes coming that will reduce the commonality of stalemates. Maybe. Maybe not.
This could be a fair way (if all players agree) to end a game when it's time for bed/work etc. Yes, I lnow the game-state will be able to be saved, but that doesn't mean all the original players from the game will be able to re-commence on any particular date.
