I'm unable to see unit icons when zoomed out, even if i set them to always on, metal spots are invisible as well. Anyone else having this problem and ideally have a workaround? Using fglrx on wheezy with a radeon 7780. This is obviously making it a bit inconvenient to start games since I have to zoom in to see where metal is, as well as making it a bit too easy to just lose units in trees.
It's a known bug on AMD cards. Bug report here http://pa.lennardf1989.com/Tracker/index.php?do=details&task_id=2424 and this script fixed it for me https://forums.uberent.com/threads/...tu-12-04-13-04-13-10.53019/page-2#post-814471
Ooops. Yesterday when I see this message first time I'm read that "metal spots are visible" for some reason. Most likely you just have cinematic mode enabled. Go to UI tab in settinga and disable it, then everything will work.
I'm pretty sure it did for me. Also, I'm certain it was the proprietary driver I was using since I only tested open source one once (gave bad fps). Sadly don't have the card anymore so I can't verify.
Anyway his problem doesn't related to drivers or Linux at all, I'm 99% sure he just have Cinematic mode enabled. I'm saying that because as long as I know metal spots indicators handled by particle system and they're not related to UI problems.
Sorry about taking so long to reply. Yes I can see the pole indicators as well as spawn point locations. As far as I can tell everything draws fine aside from zoomed out unit icons and metal spots. EDIT: I just tried Ctrl+i and Ctrl+n as well to make sure that it wasn't toggled via hotkey at some point, still no luck.
