I have been seeing many people complain, on threads discussing planetary invasions, that they got into a stalemate when two planets that didn't orbit each other, were both claimed by different players and fortified.

Then I saw this thread: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/...it-earth-several-times-gif.55389/#post-848429

This gave me an idea, what if, every once in a while, the star's gravity would capture a stray asteroid and bring it into the system, where it would loop around the star and maybe the planets a few times before leaving. The players could try to claim the asteroid, and build Halleys on it in an attempt to capture the asteroid. The asteroid could then be used for whatever purpose the player who captured it desires, albeit a firebase, or a KEW. This would also introduce a new battlefield and potentially a method to resolve a stalemate into the multi-planetary systems, that don't share orbits.

    What do you guys think?

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that this may be needed if there is no other way to breach a fortified planet via an invasionary force. However I'm not willing to discount that yet.

well i'm thinking that it would be an interesting "random event" to have happen, that wouldn't unbalance the game in any way.

Rather than relying on random events to break a stalemate, I think an asteroid belt would be more appropriate. Small ones can't be used while players could fight over the larger ones. They wouldn't be planet killers, just a way to create a beach head.

I agree with that, but this is for those people who don't add one to their system.

If they are going to play the game in such a way that is was never designed to that's their own fault really. It's the same kind of thing that can happen with unit exclusions.

I know, but it's something that doesn't affect those who don't play it that way, so why not?
