Hi, Just thought I'd share this shortcoming that I noticed when playing against the AI on water dominated planets. The AI does not expand effectively and nor does it build a navy. Instead it built scores of T1 units that were just stuck on a small island. I would love to see an AI that competes well on water/naval planets as naval is my fav kind of warfare. I'm sure the devs know about this issue.
I see you're new to the forums, and welcome! You should do a search before posting in accordance with forum rules as this gets asked frequently and is even answered on the FAQ. The AI does not currently build any naval anything. It simply hasn't been added yet. It will get added, but Uber is working on other more important things right now.
Yeah.... AI dev hasn't worked on the AI for ages. He's been doing other stuff. The AI also doesn't understand that if it loses its commander, it loses the game. The naval units aren't actually on the AIs unit map yet. It will build them. Just not until that is added server side. I guess at the moment it would do dumb stuff anyway, like building all naval in a tiny lake on a land planet, or going full out land assault on a planet with multiple islands.
It understands that to an extent, and it does know that if the commander dies, everything around it goes boom.
The AI never comm snipes human commanders, and does some really dumb stuff with its commander.. And Sorian did say that commander AI was still to be implemented.
