I'm having the same issue - please see attached DXDiag I've updated my DirectX and my graphics cards. The DXDiag says my drivers are from 04/2013 which seem to be the latest. Ive even run the BETA update that was posted above with no luck. Hope you can help
There is known problem with built-in video drivers that distributed together with Windows 8 and 8.1. Currently only known way to fix that problem is this: Open Device Manager (video how-to) Find "ATI Radeon HD 4800" in "Display adapters" subsection (check this screenshot) Uninstall built-in driver. Now download and install "Latest Beta Driver" from AMD website: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows 8 - 64 Try to run game and it's should work. If you see error again try to reboot your computer and run game again.
