I thought Uber already did a survey of this sort of thing?

    I can't remember any.

If they did, it's been quite a while.

Wonder why they would do a survey though, since they probably have stats from their servers.

    Mac OS X here.

Game runs great on it, though some of the function-key bindings* get awkward, and I'd eventually enjoy an additional pass at support for Apple's Magic Trackpad gestures in the game (from limited digging, I get the impression Apple doesn't exactly make this easy though).

I've had to re-learn how to use a mouse as of a couple weeks ago now. And I'm terrible at it. Years of using OS X and iOS for hours a day has my accuracy and comfort with capacitive glass touchpads vastly exceeding my skill with an optical mouse.
Multi-finger gestures, especially starting with the extremely obvious pinch-to-zoom de-facto standard would really benefit Mac players I suspect. I just assume Uber will prioritize it in good time, probably based on their server stats indication of how many players are actually connecting from OS X.

The last mouse I had packed away in a storage box had "2002" printed in the text underneath, so along with my holiday shopping I gifted myself the top-selling cheapo 'gaming mouse' via Amazon Prime. My first impression: ohmigod, do people still use scroll wheels?!?!?! this feels terrible!! (but I'm still giving it a shot)

    * f11 (show pathing), in particular conflicts with the OS X function key for "Spaces"/Show-Desktop. Unlike most of the function keys, that particular function key (and f12) is undeterred by the System Preferences override, or use of the function key modifier. Personally, I've taken to re-binding this in the live_game.js with my own mod, and set it to f13, which would be uncommon for most users, but I have available due to my use of a full keyboard. If devs are listening, please avoid default f11 and f12 mousetrap binds since most OS X users simply cannot workaround 'em. At least not until the Keyboard settings in game allow users to custom set it.

    Player base has grown.

No harm polling the new player base.

I am pretty sure the majority of the world uses mouse scroll. I wouldn't mind using whatever apple users refer to as their different system, but I am fairly certain it is just easier for Uber to toss functionality in at the end. I understand it is biased torwards mouse-scroll users, which makes me a sad panda. Honestly, I don't remember when Apple replaced mouse scroll, although it had to be years ago since last year I hung out with some nice girl my friend introduced me to and she had one on the trip there and back. Getting off topic, we had lots of fun and didn't date afterwards (I never followed up asking) but she and her apple laptop was nice enough.

How is magic trackpad different from that little scrollbar on the side of laptop touchpads?

EDIT: Actually, ALL of this is off topic. I am sooOOO sorry. By the way, if I was to answer that I use SteamBox, and you obviously couldn't prove or disprove the claim, would it force you to change the poll? Or should I just answer Linux as it is basically just Linux with focus-orientated Steam features...

    Ha. Yeah. Wrong thread.

But, the magic trackpad, and particularly the Mighty Mouse, do behave differently than a strip on a trackpad. Again, specifically the mighty mouse is pretty unique. I love it for basic computer browsing and graphic design, but it's poor for gaming. I have a second mouse for gaming.

Probably should create a discussion thread for this...

The Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad are both pretty awesome devices and can support all sorts of inputs. Could make for some great integration if specifically developed for.

Well what about the question for SteamBox? Should one put Linux since it basically is built to be Linux with a focal point on Steam functionality?

    Technically it's just Linux. :p

PS: Also you'll able to install Windows on SteamBox as long as you pay for license on your own.
And obviously games most likely will have totally same executable for both SteamOS and other Linux desktops.

I feel no need to change the poll then. Anyone playing on Steambox, just put Linux. Heck, anyone playing on any form of unorthodox operating system, we are going to just assume all of that is Linux for the sake of this poll.

Honestly, this game has a great backing with Linux, it is amazing much of an equal first class citizen it is here. I actually feel bad for Mac users, and I rarely feel bad for Mac users because of the hit or miss of that.

I hope they increase support of Mac soon, as that is probably the lowest of the three OS as far as game issues with it. I also hope to dual boot Linux, whenever I get to it and stop putting it off because of lazy. I am a technical aficionado, and I always wanted to get atop of snazzy nerdy Linux and feel the raw open coding run through my fingers.

Linux is a great operating system. I used it for a year at a web firm I worked for.

I just need more graphic design options, which is one of the main reasons I go for Mac. There's also a crap ton of efficiency apps and programming apps for Mac (I know there's plenty for Linux too).

I find I hate that on Windows, but I never compared it to Mac, so usually I blame it on the program itself.

Like Lightworks in my opinion should make it more obvious how to move around things or edit things. It seems like anything I do I try once and it "doesn't work that way" and I am like "ok that's cool it isn't simple drag and drop" but the option just to freaking move something is imbedded in some sort of maze of drop down actions.

I'm pretty surprised. I was expecting OS X to be higher.

I can't state that I was expecting more OS X, but I sure was hoping for it. Doesn't seem prudent to even suggest things like Magic Trackpad support below a certain userbase threshold.

Well, trackpads transcend just Macs and are all Laptops. So hopefully they'll fix trackpad scrolling for all OSes and then we can use third party apps for awesome Magic Mouse/Trackpad integration. :)

I was expecting higher than 75% (at the time of posting) Windows usage.

    Pleasantly surprised by this.
