So could a dev answer ? is it being worked on ? what do you expect it will look like when its finished ? or biomes and Planets will stay like this ? Will it be similar to the concept art or we only can dream of it ? Anything ?
I think he's asking if the Biomes and graphics for the biomes are being worked on(and when they'll be done) or if they'll remain unchanged. Also if they'll look like the concept art or if they won't.
I asked this question in the last live stream. Neutrino answered saying the desert biome concept art is the goal they are shooting for. My question Brad is will we be able to customize the planets further, basically a planet editor to make our own unique planets, placing oceans, cracks, streams, mountains, hills, where we want creating chokepoints?
I think it's not only about the looks, but about the play too. Planets are way too flat most of the time now.
This is all easily moddable (and you can do so already, but it will only be visible in the system editor, not in game). See https://forums.uberent.com/threads/reference-planet-type-biome-feature-decal-blueprints.48572/ (a bit out of date now, but the basic outline is correct). Edit: Mis-read your comment. I believe they wanted to implement the hooks to allow this, but not necessarily be able to include it themselves (at least initially).
Isn't there speculation to be able to do planet editing through modifying terrain with meshes addition and subtraction? The concept was, if someone made a series of units each with a weapon that impacts terrain with a mesh normally generated by planet generator, they could paint the terrain with units whose shots creates crevices, plateaus, mountains, trees, craters, and such. Then save it as a replay and hopefully the game will load the map without edits and apply the terrain changes through the replay save feature. That is assuming a whole lot though, as theoretical as traveling faster than light being equivalent to time travel. The other question being work on biomes. That is a fairly well asked question. You know what they say, persistence eventually pays off. I sort of want to ask this myself now. Without being directly blessed with information, my personal theory is that lava planets are eating their time to make functional, but they do have graphics artists and they need something to do so they will almost have to work on additional better looking biome features sometime. Then again, they also eventually have to design unit models too, not to say they aren't really busy, so who knows?
These are all rather vague questions - if a Dev does respond to this thread, expect vague answers However, it's a safe assumption that most artwork is going to have some further revisions and/or adjustments prior to release.
im totally fine with Vague Answers. just want to know if we stay with the flat maps or there will be some serious updates on it so we would have choke points hills etcetc you know something similar to other rts games Maps. right now its dull. sure we have a whole planet but it wont realy be good if its just a Flat ball without any tacticaly usable ground and we have sooooooooo few infos and stuff and talk about it that im getting worried. I would even be fine if the devs give us a Screenshot of a half finished bugged in game Biome that is missing half of its textures lol
I think I'm pretty safe to say that - It is being worked on, right now, by someone in the Uber office - It will be somewhere between what we have now and the concept art. You may find this post of interest. Particularly:
