Hi there A few days ago I could place the cursor just outside the surface of the planet and then use the mouse wheel to roll the planet... this has been removed.. How do I turn this back on? Thanks Jesper
I suggest you read this thread: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/official-camera-feedback-thread.54623/ Short story: The camera has been reworked (try zooming out as far as you can and see the main difference) and that broke the feature you were using. It is uncertain if it will make a reappearance.
Multiple people have asked for this back, so I'm hoping to see it as an option in the settings, at least.
It's not quite as simple as that, unfortunately. The camera needs to be consistent across all the different view ranges. Imagine how confusing it would be if you scrolled towards a different planet to the one you're focusing on only to, rather than zooming in on the planet you want to zoom in on, find yourself rotating about the axis of your current highlighted planet. How does the game differentiate between the two? EDIT: Holy run-on sentence, batman.
The game still has a "celestial" level and an "orbital" level. It could have two different command sets for them, so that you can do this kind of rotation on the lower, orbital, one. I've never used this feature, but I think it could make sense.
This has already been discussed a little. https://forums.uberent.com/threads/official-camera-feedback-thread.54623/page-2#post-836404 One of the main problems I have is that you can zoom in right up to the horizon and the camera will move in to focus on that area, but if you aren't careful and leave the mouse over off the edge then the camera will just zoom straight in. Currently there are two completely different zoom behaviors that are chosen between depending on a high level of mouse precision. Even without side scrolling, something needs to be done to make zooming near the horizon more predictable.
Game is really unplayable for me, i was totally used to this and it feels like i have to learn it all again wich i don't want to so i stopped playing.
I still miss the old way, but I adjusted to the change quickly enough. The new camera is superior in every other way.
Yes, it is a function that I miss. But I was using this interchangeably with the arrow keys, so I suppose the arrow keys just picked up the slack. I think I could probably make my planet browsing habits a bit more efficient... perhaps this is the ideal time to retrain oneself and get into new habits. You too Mot
What I ultimately hope for is a way to comfortably navigate anywhere in the solar system with only mouse movements and the scroll wheel. My time with SupCom taught my brain that clicking is for interacting with the environment, while scrolling and moving the mouse if for getting around. I know I can get over it, but clicking to drag the planet always seems like a violation of that rule.
