Hello I am attempted to start playing the game for the first time through steam. So I first tried it in Linux and then I tried in under a virtual machine VMWare in Windows 8 and it was not starting. I could hear the music, but the screen was completely black. So I am just wondering is there something temporary being fixed or something. Thanks appreciate the help, looking forward for your answer.
Under Linux it is most likely libudev that gives you a black screen. Could you check if libudev.so.0 is present in the directory called "host" inside the PA installation folder? And if it's there, does it point to the correct version (It should be a symlink to the 64-bit version) Another possibility is the driver for you graphics card. Which ones do you use? As to running inside a virtual machine, I'm not sure that's even possible with the heavy use of OpenGL and all that.
