Is it planned to be an option in multiplayer games? It can really ruin a game for me when I can't do anything because one of my team mates decides to build a thousand workers to hog all the resources. Same with unit control, I'd like to have individual control at some point as well.
That is what this mode is all about, it won't change. You are obviously waiting for the alliance mode where you control your own army and economy.
Our plans, always subject to change, include an alliance mode where you control your own units and economy. With luck, automatic sharing of excess economy.
Awesome . I personally prefer that kind of team play, and excess resource sharing is perfect if you can get that working.
Yes. The plan is to allow unit gifting and resource sharing. The automatic sharing of excess economy is a really cool idea though!
I do like the sound of extra resource sharing. This would allow someone (ally) to "turtle" up and be the eco, while his team mates just go nuts on building units and attacking. This usually happens in most RTS games already with resource gifting (hell even SC2 dose it but its timed now).
I always found that this doesn't work out so well. Even on Seton's Clutch on Supreme Commander, it tended to be the the team where all four players were aggressive that won over the team where the 'back' player turtled and teched up. This kind of thing is much more viable in the current Team Armies mode, where players can control any units they need to control to defend themselves. The extra flexibility it gives you is amazingly helpful.
-sharemetal -setsharemetal 90% -shareenergy -setshareenergy 90% Yes, that extra 10% is pretty useful so you can SEE if your resources are being greedily taken or woefully wasted.
