http://pa.lennardf1989.com/Tracker/index.php?do=details&task_id=2424&project=1 I know I'm not the only one who gets this issue, and I get this issue in 9 out of 10 matches. No strategic icons for certain types of units – the units vary. Restarting PA fixes it every time, but I still have to restart PA for just about every match I start. That's no bueno. This bug has been around since before 55430, which was released on October 16th. So this has been happening for over 2 months. If you get this issue, head on over to the bug tracker and vote on it so it'll get more visibility and a higher priority. I'd really really like it if this bug would get fixed.
Really want to manage most popular Mac issues, but I'm can't actually check them and make proper testing what hardware affected and what not. It's will be pretty useful if somebody can actually check Mac issues and then I'll push them to internal bugtracker. If you (or any other Mac user) can help me with managing those issues then for Uber it's probably will be easier to fix them.
I'm on a Mac, just tell me what info you need and I'll do everything I can. I can tell you that it's inconsistent, which makes testing difficult. Most of the time the Commander and energy plants don't have a strategic icon and I restart there. Normally I restart from there so I don't know about the other units. I've seen all of not appear – bots, vehicles, and orbital.
Actually there only two things need to be collected: What hardware and OS X versions affected and which is not. It's will be really useful if you can stay in touch with few players with Macs. Some reproduction steps if possible. I sure Uber can fix such issues, but they need to know what hardware they need to use for testing.
I've reinstalled as well. Still get it. No mods installed. I'm on the latest version of OSX. I don't know of other OSX players, I'll keep an eye out. Reproduction... start a match. The vast majority of the time, no strat icons on some units. Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850 This 'ol girl is showing her age... :-(
If I remember correct it was hidden files in app data not the pa directory. Bit sure if Mac is installed similsry
I had this (or a similar) issue on windows once when I changed the resolution of the game after launching it. Totally guessing, but if you have fullscreen vs windowed options on mac, maybe try the other one?
In many (I'd say most) games, there comes a point in the game where the strategic icon for my commander disappears, it seems to remove enemy commanders strategic icons as well which can be critical to winning/losing (finding that commander in a field of structures and units). I do not use a Mac.
Thanks for the info. Missing Strat icons seems to be a consistent issue for a variety of reasons on all operating systems.
I currently get no strategic icons at all, no icons for metal points and no selection boxes around units or structures. Don't know how this happened, started suddenly after I messed with some UI settings in the menu, I think. I've tried a clean reinstall, new video card drivers.. still the same. Running on a Windows 7 laptop with Core i7 2620M and Nvidia Geforce GT 520m (don't laugh/cry).
Err... I think it makes it easier to take screenshots. I don't use it myself. No idea what it does. Just kills the UI and confuses forum isers.
I'm on Mac, Retina MBP bought few months ago, and after trying new settings on the UI icons disappeared entirely, and apparently there is no way to get them back. Also, the indicators of North and South aren't visible any more. I tried restarting PA, changing settings, restoring the defaults key binding. With no luck. So far I'm in the dark :-/ It happened today, after I changed few options in the UI settings. Dunno exactly which one, since apparently the only difference they all do is to make the icons disappear, with no return
Alternatively, you can also complete reset all of your settings by simply deleting the directory "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Uber Entertainment/Planetary Annihilation/", where $HOME is your home folder. That will completely obliterate any settings you have changed.
