    Hello folks,

I am looking for some current user input on the game. I am deciding on which version to purchase. My current system is intel i7 8GB ddr3 and a getforce 660 graphics card running Mint 16 64 bit with generic drivers. I also run win7 64 in virtual box for my current games. Linux is a rock solid OS it's just not the platform of choice for game programmers.

    Any feedback would be appreciated

    UPDATE:

Ty to Liquius and Teod for the fast replies........good to know you don't have to choose a version

This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun :)

When you buy the game your not bound to one system. You can play on all systems with the same account.

You don't buy the version of the game, you buy the game. Then you can download whatever version you like. I have two PCs, one with windows and one with linux, and PA is installed on both.

That is good to know info. I did not know you were allowed to download any versions you wanted. They don't mind if you use the key across the platorms ?

    Example:

download the linux version.....lets say it don't work well

re-download the windows version ....use the same key..and do the regular windows play?

That would be an awesome perk

    Thanks

I believe Windows is the 'least buggy' version so far.

They don't mind how many different places you use it from. Once you've paid for a copy, all you need is your Ubernet account

I would say windows, but it's probably just because it's on vastly more powerful machine and with better internet connection.

Uber is not EA. You will be presented with this screen:

Click those links as much as you want.

Windows is the most stable build, I think.

Purchasing the game gets you the account credentials, which you use to login in the main menu of the game. Installing the game doesn't ask any keys.

Regarding the OS. I have been playing this on Linux for couple of days now, and it's working great! I had few (solvable) problems with my old Radeon card, but none since I switched to GeForce. I'm running Ubuntu 13.10 64bit with pretty much everything defaults but GPU drivers, which I downloaded from NVIDIA site.

Can't agree with you. Linux version had few specific problems and lack of few features, but currently all bad bugs are gone. E.g there was input handling problems and lack of fullscreen which is fixed by now.

Also Linux version not affected by Steam version performance drops and in general have less crashes on start due to OS architecture differences. E.g even in alpha Coherent rarely crashes in-game and this is nice advantage.

For Nvidia users there won't be any difference between Windows/Linux.
For AMD GPUs there nothing especial because their drivers are bad for any games on Linux. :D

Linux, I'd say ubuntu specificly, but whichever takes your fancy, mint is quite popular nowadays.

Just not if you're a twitch.tv streamer (apparently??? Btw, @SXX wtf is this bul lshit with twitch not supporting linux? seriously!)

Only built-in feature not support Linux.

Actually you can easily stream to twitch using ffmpeg and scripts like this one:

We are happy to let people play with different versions of the game across platforms.

There has been a tremendous amount of work that has gone into making sure this game can actually work cross platform. Why? Because you guys the people who are buying and playing the game asked for it.

SXX has been a tremendous community member which is why he has a unit named in his hono(u)r. Thanks again for all of your hard work!

Not important but it made me smile to see you also put the "u" in honour :) For some of us the word looks very odd without it.
SXX has been extremely helpful to a lot of people on the Steam forums as well as on here so I can't see anyone begrudging him that honour.
