I hope you're joking. Advanced Radar Sats take forever to build and can't be built until late game.

If you can afford a 32400 Metal Nuck, I don't see how one can't afford a 39500 Metal Satellite really, it's not that big of a jump really.

There's also the 6,500 metal cost of an Orbital Factory plus an advanced factory and fabricator before that.

Point is, it's a decent investment and in a normal game, Orbital is often delayed until... 15-20 minutes into the game or beyond. You need to be scouting before you get an adv satellite up.

It's nearly the same amount investment for Nucks thought, You still need the Advanced Factory and Fabricator before you can get the 5410 Metal Nuck Launcher. Yes the difference between Nucks and The Most Expensive Orbital unit is only 8190 Metal, or about 5-6 Levelers......

Not to mention you can get the much cheaper Basic Radar Satellite, 3 of them actually for the same cost as the Advanced Radar Satellite.

Orbital isn't really any more Late Game than Nucks honestly.

I never said it was more late game than Nukes. I never even mentioned nukes.

I'm simply stating that Advanced Radar Satellites are late game and scouting must be done before a adv radar sat is built.

In chess you can have an overwhelming advantage in every aspect, but you can still slip up and allow the opponent to achieve a stalemate position, or even worse, let yourself be mated due to a momentary oversight.

This actually adds charm to the game, it means that there are more opportunities for counterplay even if you are nominally behind. Nobody likes a game where if you accrue a tiny advantage you can safely win without giving your opponent any counterplay.

I'm not going to say that there couldn't be balance or gameplay problems with a very vulnerable commander being your lifeline, but it's part of the core design of the game and it should be important to recognize the potential for adding more chances to the losing player by emphasizing this vulnerability.
