anime and manga have their disadvantages and advantages. While you get to enjoy the visuals in the anime, sometimes the story loses its essence when you actually compare it with manga. For those who are patient enough to wait for chapters, manga is the best!
I guess it is the same with movies and books. Worst anime adation is the Akira movie. It's not even the 1st manga.
Generally speaking, the original form is the best. It's the medium the story was designed to be told in. But that also means that things that were originally anime, or originally books, means that those are the better version. Look at SAO. In descending order it goes light novel, anime, godawful manga. Madoka magica has some manga adaptations, and while decent, they don't touch the anime series in terms of quality. As for what I'm doing right now. Watching Yu Yu Hakusho. I've only ever seen bits and pieces, and it's a lot easier to piecemeal anime than manga for me. I have no intention of getting into a 150+ chapter manga when the anime adaptation is universally received as just as good.
anime and manga are inseparable. You have to enjoy the best of both worlds. Sometimes what I watch on anime I also read on manga … but you can go with the anime first before reading the manga version so you don't get all disappointed.
I don't watch anime as much as I used to but I still have a couple of series that I want to finish. The 3rd Madoka Magica movie was cluttered and bizarre. I almost fell asleep while watching it in the cinema. "IF" there will be a 4th one, Urobutcher better execute it right. Kara no Kyoukai, done. Sakasama no Patema / Patema Inverted will be a lot of fun. Golden Time, the only anime that I follow this season. It's decent but sometimes, it's boring.
I'm enjoying Log Horizon. It handles the whole trapped in an MMO thing in a fairly neat way since nobody can die.
I'm way behind on it but I'll catch up probably this weekend (then get behind again). I think I stopped right before the pace was picking up again ep7. I wanted to see how the money scheme was going to play out.
I'm really loving Attack on Titan. Obviously I already watched the first 25 episodes and read all of the manga. Now I'm waiting for season 2. I was a fan of One Piece until I discovered Attack on Titan. I guess after finding out about Attack on Titan, One Piece became a bit too immature in my view. I still like it, but I'm not a fan anymore. The thing that annoys me about One Piece is that it doesn't seem to have an end in sight. I love the humour in One piece, though. I got some of my best laughs from that anime so far. But apart from those two animes, there are dozens of others that I like. One of my favorites is "Welcome to the NHK". I can only recommend that for anyone who didn't see it, yet. Some others that I liked were Code Geass, Mushi-shi and obviously the best anime of all time: Hellsing. Btw, I'm flying to Japan for two weeks starting tomorrow. So wish me the best of luck I hope they speak English there in Tokyo... Greetings
@arachnis I'm like the only one in Tokyo who can speak English. Nobody here in Japan can Btw, have you watched SnK OVA / EP 26?
Oh well, how right you are. It's really difficult To find english speaking people here in Tokyo. and when you find one, their english is usually More Broken than my japanese Snk? Edit: ah right, shingeki no kyojin. Yes i did see episode 26
