The game SMITE has an official twitch stream, Smitegame, that trusted members of the community and employees can stream themselves playing the game to. I think this would be a good idea for PA too. Thoughts?
eh.... meh. A community can thrive greatly without an official thing like that. Having an "official" stream would create a bottleneck. A select few community members would get all of the publicity and it would be pretty difficult for anyone else to break into that exclusive club. I say let the community thrive on its own.
As a PA streamer and youtuber I'm already dissatisfied that some(not to mention any names) people are already being held up by the Uber team. All of us who stream and post videos work hard and play a lot. To specifically push one person over another tells the rest of us "Who needs you, when we have these guys.". Especially when there isn't a ton to do in the game itself(not Minecraft). Let people do as they please! All the community are equal! None should be held up above the others! Don't punish people for not having "connections".
I understand where you are coming from, but you are basically asking Uber not to mention any names at all, since it is practically impossible for them to mention all names. Do you think that is better?
I feel, that unless someone does something insanely awesome that no one else has done, then yes. Because if all of us are playing the same game, casting, playing, streaming, etc, then why should one of us "Be the best"? They can simply refer to us as "the community" or "the streamers" and/or "youtubers". Just because, this one person happens to be more popular, or was around two more years, so they have more followers doesn't mean anything. I've been doing streaming and youtubing since alpha, but, I'd rather it be all inclusive, then all exclusive. I salute everyone that streams, tubes or whatever media form they do it in. All of them are my competitors and I wish them equal luck and success. And yes, I do get pretty annoyed when someone gets a special mention, for literally doing a quite common thing.
(Let me start off by saying I not referring at all to your streams, I'm just making generalities to make a point) Why should one of us be the best? Well, someone is the best. If we all participate in a tournament, why is one of us the best? Well, because he's better than the others. Being more popular, being around for longer, and having more followers does mean something. It is indicative of the quality of their casts. Some people are simply better at casting than other people (again, generality, not specified towards you). You also forget activity in the community. People who are more active in the community and contribute to the community get special mentions. Should anyone who posts on the forums get a special mention? Or someone who spends a heck of a lot of time on the forums, like Knight, get special mention? People should be rewarded for going above and beyond to contribute quality content and assistance to the community. What's more, Uber itself is rewarded for mentioning people. Specific example – their news post about ZaphodX's casts. ZaphodX makes some fantastic videos about PA, which is free advertising for Uber. So when they promote ZaphodX's casts, people watch them, see how awesome the game is, and then buy the game. If they just made a vague "all the casters" reference, then people wouldn't go out and watch them. Now, in specific reference to you, you aren't very active in the community. Just because you stream, doesn't mean anyone knows your streaming. ZaphodX and myself and other streamers are very active in the community. We build relationships with others in the community as well as with Uber. Such relationships result in more followers, more views, etc – and yes, mentions from Uber. In short, special mentions to reward people who are exceptional in contributing to the community are good for everyone involved – even to other casters who don't get the publicity.
