When I make a custom system I can't seem to arrange for players to start on different planets. What do I need to do to make this happen?
I see you're new to the forums, and welcome! You should do a search before posting, in accordance with forum rules. This gets asked frequently. This feature has not been implemented yet, but will be added.
I did do a search, couldn't find anything on it. When you search "different starting planets" you apparently get every post involving the word "planet." Which is like, all of them. I've since tried more advanced search options and was able to find it. Trouble was mostly that the first attempt was pretty disheartening.
You are right, the search function isn't very good. Using Google is very helpful. If you put the following on the Google Search Bar, you'll search the planetary annihilation forums, and the Google algorithm is better than the PA one.
brian the performance of the game means that most players cannot run big systems with multiple moons and large planets therefore starting on different planets would result in not the type of gameplay envisaged. But I want it too so well done for asking for it.
The game hasn't been optimized much. There are still many optimizations to go. I imagine most everyone will be able to play on multi planet system. So does everyone. It's a confirmed feature. It'll be implemented, just hasn't been done yet.
Question - would a moon crashing into another moon in PA create a spray of dangerous high speed asteroids that could then impact other planets???
We already have underlying support for this, but it's not ready to go live yet. Meir - in any near term fashion, no. We have bigger fish to fry. Could something like that result in what amounts to an explosion of kinetic energy weapons? Yes, that could be something that possible mod support could allow, but it would require a pretty significant amount of new features on top of existing systems. So... well down the road if it happened. Like a lot of cool features we'd like to think about in the future.
