I can't get into a game no matter how long I wait. It sits here at "Generating Planets" with the loading animation and never loads. I can talk to people, but can't get into the game. The game prior to this I was able to finally load however I had no commander to use.. Do you running game though Steam? If yes, can you try non-Steam version though Uber launcher? https://store.uberent.com/Download/Install?titleId=4
The commander being absent is probably because, by the time you had finished loading, the game had started you automatically. There is a time limit to picking your spot, and it seems that you not actually being in the game doesn't change that So if you fix the loading issue, the commander issue will sort itself out.
