I have an idea for an endgame weapon. The weapon is a gravity generator. It increases the mass of the planet it is sitting on to the point that any nearby objects smash into it. Say any planet is nearby, so they will smash into the planet. Any planets caught in this gravity field will be destroyed.

Sounds cool.. having close by planets drawn into the planet with the generator and bombarding it.

What about having it in reverse mode too repelling incoming KEW attack's?

Then it would be much less cool. I guess it's practical though.

I kinda like the idea. Invade a superior planet, hold off the enemy long enough to build it, and then boom.

Edit: Although now that I think about it, if I invade a planet that's fortified, I'll just get nuked so......

I really don't like the idea of game ending single units/buildings. When one thing guarantees a win, PA becomes a game of "First one to build X wins."

Nifty idea. But I don't like what it would do to gameplay.

brian is right, it is not cool ending the game with one super-unit or structure

I agree. This is my problem with nukes at the moment, which invalidate practically every other unit by being so cheap - it's easier, late-game, to make a nuke than an army, and then use said nuke to destroy any incoming threat. Also nukes and anti-nukes are becoming the first port of call once you have a semi-fortified base and Teir 2. Anti nukes need to be cheaper, and nukes need to be more expensive, in my opinion, so that using land units is viable late-game.

It's known that anti-nukes will get a buff. Most likely their range will increase and they'll come with an anti nuke pre-built in the building.

That's going to be a huge boost. There's also a high likelihood of there being a mobile anti nuke unit.

However, I don't agree that nukes are game ending. They certainly are powerful, but not game ending when you play right.

If you spread out your base, particularly your energy, getting nuked doesn't have to be the end of the world.

I've won multiple matches after getting nuked 3 and 4 times. I see people win after getting nuked all the time.

When you invest all the metal required for a nuke, that's metal not going into an army. So it's not completely over powered.

And man, that is a frack ton of metal..... approx 40k mex for one nuke, and an ant only costs 225, while a leveler costs 1575.

    Math:
    40k/225 = 177 Ants

    40k/1575 = 25 Levelers

So yeah, thats an army. And honestly, nukes do less damage than that amount of units CAN do to an enemy base if used correctly.

Well gravity weapon still sounds cool, after watching man of steel movie it would be cool to have a gravity weapon that would function like the terraforming vehicle in the movie, sending nearby units smashing to the grounds, becoming more powerfull over time maybe destroying the planet in the process.

Maybe not good for competetitive play but would be fun singelplayer or against AI. In any case I hope to see a gravity weapon in mods if not implemented by uber.

Edit: The lore says the commanders are sentient entities so it would be strange if they never developed any cool superweapons and just fought each other with mankind inventions of cannons and missiles for centuries/millenia without any innovation.

This falls under the category of "gravity manipulating weapons". Clearly the OP went for the biggest grav gun possible, but that is not necessary. This weapon archetype has other uses such as for anti air, anti bomber, or anti artillery roles. In theory.

Ow, I remember this one. From Star Wars the "Battle of Malachor V", the finnal battle between Revan and the Mandalorians. The weapon was called the "Mass shadow generator." It basicly increased the gravity of the planet exponentially , destroying the planet, killing everything on it and almost completely annihilating the fleets in orbit.

The idea has appeal to me. The weapon will increase the planets mass until it sucks in all the nearby planets. What happens next is either the planet explodes with much greater force. Even after the planet is destroyed it will continue sucking in all the nearby objects, creating a giant dirtball.

Either a few planets are left or the entire solar system is annihilated.

I am not discussing a weapon that directly manipulates gravity.

They always stated that metal planets would have technology that you could reactivate. Perhaps this weapon could be found in a metal planet.

I think something like a one-planet reverse halley (tractor beam) could work, or something for multiple planets, but it would only work if it was on galactic warfare, because it would be too over powered for regular gaming.

I imagine so. The concept itself works out, but you must ask yourself if you want your enemy creating gravity wells.
