Damage Drop Off

    It means that what happens on their screen is happening to you, regardless of what's on your screen. I don't think the assault rifle or minigun are hitscan though. As far as I know, the railgun and sniper without explosive rounds are the only hitscan weapons in this game.

    They are. Along with shotgun, SMG and the ones you mentioned already. If they weren't, you'd have to lead moving targets to hit them.

    I get what hitscan means...I don't understand what it had to do with anything we were mentioning. Shotgun and smg on 360 are not hitscan. He's just dumb...

    Honestly I think the game is just a little broken and stupid. You don't need to lead sniper shots, but you do need to lead sniper headshots. Assault rifle bullets don't always connect flawlessly. I honestly think it has a lot to do with the fact that people skip around instead of bullets lagging. Rather than having to lead shots, people twitch around like Mr. Game and Watch to compensate.

    P2P hosting.

    OP mentioned shotguns reaching further than they're supposed to which is the result of clientside registering and delay.

    Feel free to prove me wrong.

    He's right guys.. Pretty sure everything except the assaults grenade launcher, shurukens, mortars and product grenades. At least that's what I assume. I've pm'd eka and he confirmed that the weapons are hit and that it only feels like you need to lead to deal with lag compensation.

    It's a dumb way for doing things for sure. P2P hosting just never works on my end, whether this game or halo CE on xbc. I always feel like my gunner shots are just absorbed and never register.

    I'm not saying it isn't hitscan, but not every headshot registers. It may be due to p2p hosting or my connection or people twitching around, but it's inconsistent.

    IT'S CUZ YOU CAN'T AIM. Literally.

    MNC/SMNC uses a forgiving type of clientside hit detection which literally makes every hitscan hit if the client says it's okay. It's something like this:

    There is bad guy on screen
    You headshot bad guy as he turns a corner
    Client declares a hit
    Client sends information to server that the hit occcured
    Server always says the hit is legitimate and propagates the information to clients
    Even if the bad guy was around the corner on his screen he will die because you hit him on yours

    This is why you can have two people kill each other at the same time with hitscans. With a complete serverside implementation, one guy's hits would take priority and leave one guy living. You can test it out yourself, just have two people shoot each other at the same exact time with bullets and they can both die.

    Crap like melees and projectiles/explosives are mostly serverside and don't enjoy magical ROUND-DA-CORNER kills. By the way, the jetgun is not a hitscan.

    This isn't an issue of the game being broke or servers being bad because IT'S ALL CLIENTSIDE. You just can't hit **** with your nipplestix, baddies.

    "Hi Teapot,

    Sniper's weapon is hitscan/instant. The delay you see is travel time to the "server/host" and back. As for systems and mechanics it varies alot but MNC is built on Unreal3 engine so if you're familiar with how other Unreal games work there are similar systems depending on what they are. As for who to talk to about your questions, make a thread on the forum and I'll ask Forrest, Scathis or one of the other programmers that worked on it to respond.

    I completely understand what you're saying and it's the same reason why I asked him. On host with a good connection it's way easier to tell it's hitscan, but off host on a bad connection you would swear you had to lead bullets.

    Relax, lol. I've never once seen or heard of 2 people killing each other in this game. Not once in 3 years. If you ever watch my stream you'll see all the time that I headshot people who are walking in a straight line and I get credit for a body shot. It could be broken hitboxes also. I know for a fact that the assassin's head hitbox is miniscule.

    And I can't believe I forgot to mention this before. If sniper bullets are hitscan, why do you still need to lead headshots on blackjacks and jackbots?

    headshots arent registered the same way on bots as pros? that'd be the only thing i can think of
