EDIT : hmm looks like this is relevant again.... DEBATE!

    Code:

NO way! ! I was hoping it would work more like a transport.

you can have a stream of units from your army going in at one end and getting fired out the other.

Otherwise it's just the unit cannon from supcom 2 [IMG]
and that thing was heka disappointing and unsatisfying in every way.

it was rather meant that you line up your factorybuilt units to it
i could see connecting 1 or muliple factories with a unitcannon through waypoints ..
so it will be like a transporter not a factory

Consider the ferry system of SupCom

You could queue factories to the ferry point and it auto transports them.

"and that thing was heka disappointing and unsatisfying in every way."
how come? ... to me it served its clear purpose ... it launched self build units either into or behind the enemies base ...

edit: sry for doubleposting -_- ...

at a cheaper cost and faster build rate than regular factories.

The unit cannon was one of THE best things about SC2.

And until we see how it actually works, this is just a bunch of fearmongering.

Yea I thought it was fine in sc2.... I mean launching tanks doesn't make much sense. Wonder if t2 will be launchable? Or perhaps specialized drop/ jump units????

It's not going to be a factory.

You send units into the cannon and then they get sent to the plant. Remember what they said about lining up units to go into the cannon?

    Not a factory.

Of course I imagine it to have a higher build cap or none at all in comparison to its predecessor...

Btw tat it was one of my favorites. Super awesomeness creating mass confusion in the opponents base, or the perfect distraction

Will the unit canon be able to shoot units on the same planet or only to other planets?

Well one of its limitations is it can only shoot from a small moon to a large planet but not the other way around.

Yeah I'm hoping that is not the case. what if the map has no moons then you won't even be able to use the unit canon....They should allow it to be used on all sizes

We do know. The only thing we don't know exactly are what the size limitations will be.

The unit cannon for sure will only be able to be put onto small celestial bodies. This is for game balance.

For larger celestial bodies, the teleporters will be used.

This, we don't know. Probably only bots.

It shouldn't be allowed on all sizes.

When you think about it, it makes sense. On earth, we can't use a Howitzer artillery piece to shoot something into orbit because of how much gravity there is on Earth. We have to use rockets. However, if we went to the moon and used a really really really big Howitzer artillery piece, it's technically possible to get something to break orbit.

This is for game balance purposes.

It allows moons to be used for orbital flybys and invasions. While on a planet, we use the teleporter network to move units around.

Rail guns are suggested as a orbital launcher device for our moon.

It would look like a rollercoaster from the tycoon games.
