Having downloaded PA_Mac_57449.dmg and installed when I start up PA, the screen appears to be frozen and the program does not respond. Please could somebody help me to understand why it isn't working.

Other parts of your computer quite powerful even if they're old. But I'm quite doubt that this card can run PA at all.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason you haven't done the free upgrade to Mavericks? Does your system support it?

First thing besides that, is make sure you have every possible update installed. That is, as SXX mentions, an older system, but in particular a quite old card. Especially on Apple, which has a much slower driver update cycle, I'm not positive if it will be able to run the game or not, though it falls under the specs. The 512MB memory limit on the card is very rough for the game to handle.

My Google-Fu says: no. At least it's not officially supported.

Also back to 6-7 years this card was barely able to make 20FPS in Supreme Commander so I'm seriously doubt it's have any chances to run PA even on Windows. :(

    Hi guys,

Thanks for replying. Yes, unfortunately my computer doesn't support further updates as its a late 2006 model, so I can't run Mavericks (or even Mountain Lion). Everything is as up to date as it can be on software update. Looks like I will have to wait until I can get a new computer, as it doesn't even seem like a new graphics card would guarantee it working.

Thanks for your help anyway though.

    All the best
