    Hi
I have attached error codes. Before I get theses errors Windows asks if I will allow the application to make changes on my computer. After I have pressed ok 4 times I am getting to the mod app but without any colors or pictures.

By the way thanks for helping.

Within the manager folder, can you confirm there is a "mod_cache" folder?

Thanks for the advice Raevn, for some insane reason i didn't have the 'manager' folder copied into the base steam directory, maybe i removed it accidentally.
The error has dissipated and so have the other odd warnings that ive gotten.

    :D

Try reinstalling from the zip in the first post, there should be a manager folder there too.

I was wondering, from previous experience and curiosity, how exactly will the modding be controlled? I mean, if it's possible to mod new units and buildings into the game, how will it be prevented from getting out of hand that one guy has one cheap, and extremely over-powered unit that basically wins the game in seconds. Will all people participating in the game have to have the same mods active to play the game? Or will there be administrators controlling what kind of mods are available to the public?

Some things are server controlled only.
So server dictates the game rules !

Quick note, the forum links in news still open in IE but all other links open in my default browser.

Known issue, but it will take an overhaul of the way the news is delivered to fix, so it's a bit lower on the to-do list, unfortunately :(

New version out, has a proper installer and can update itself. No other changes yet; wanted to get this out of the way so updating in future is far less painful.

Can the next version check where PA is installed and default its installation directory there? Auto-updating is awesome though.

This may be hard as there's no registry entry created for it (that I can see), so I have to work out a reliable method for doing so (and then work out whether it's installed via steam or not)

I'd wager that a majority of installations uses the default folder in C:/Programs...
Steam probably has registry keys to tell you where it's steamapps folder is located.
So for the first you could try a few educated guesses before asking the user and the 2nd should be doable, too?

Yeah, steam shouldn't be too hard to work out, and the installation dir is currently set to <program files>\planetary annihilation by default. I can add more checks for other common places too.

So I just realised it's sorting the download count as if it is text ... ("87", "7", "53" are the top 3 downloaded apparently)
