I think we underestimate how much will be involved in unit cannons. Uber stated they'll have a certain range so you have to time the invasions just right. So it's more involved than just sending units to another planet.

Even so. You're probably right. Likely they'll be adding just more than the unit cannon – if that is indeed what they're talking about.

It'd also be nice if they increased the unit roster.

    We'll see though.

So this patch could be at best really big, with unit cannons, orbital nukes, gates, asteroids, flying those into orbit, and the full unit roster.

Or at worst it could be just the unit cannon and the ability to fly moons into orbit.
I think that it's something in the middle: the unit cannon + gates + orbital nukes + flying moons into orbit.

    Greetings

My concern about the unit cannon as described previously is I believe they said you could only build it on small moons to invade larger planets. How do I invade the small moon invading me? Hopefully you can build a unit cannon on your planet and invade them right back.

Why would there be such a limitation?

    What gave you that idea?

    I doubt that'll be there.

I recall reading it or hearing it on a stream. It struck me as odd too, but it does align with the Kickstarter video. While writing my post I decided it's more likely it's just a range thing.

    Ah.

Well, Uber has stated that interplanetary stuff will have limited range. So invading planets will have to be done within a certain window, or you'll have to wait for the planets to orbit the sun again or something.

I doubt the unit cannon will be on moons/astroids only.

They have said that it'll be based on the mass of the planet. If the planet is too large, you'll need booster rockets to move to another body.

Booster rockets? We're talking about the Unit Cannon, not the Halley.

Are you saying that the Unit Cannon would be based on the mass of the planet?

Yep! By booster rockets I meant the type that Orbital units use to get in to space that then come crashing back down. They said that the unit cannon won't provide enough force to get them to another planet.

Ah. I get what you were saying now.

    Hmm... That does make sense.

So I guess invading moons would involve putting a unit cannon on a different moon or using gates. Or maybe something we don't know that they'll be adding.

I just hope it doesn't involve 20 minutes of waiting for things to build and move.

No one is a bit disappointed by the last comment of naval being down scaled?? It makes me think of supcom 2 where the naval sucked. I mean didn't we reach the stretch goal of full array of naval units...!?

Down scaled? What makes you say that?

We did reach the stretch goal. We do have naval. And naval is being worked on. The game is still in beta, and it is being worked on.

If they added the orchestral score this update, that would be VERY NICCEEEEEE. In fact, I would take that over most other things, but I'm biased :p

I like the idea that the unit cannon is only good at short range, so just to nearby orbiting planets/moons. Therefore, if you are close you can fire off many units in short succession, but if its a distant planet you have to stick with a slow transporter first, then get a warp gate working to speed things up.

I would love unit cannons but a mini map would seem better because its much easier to look over the planet.
But then again, UNIT CANNONS ARE AWESOME!!!

tbacav: mentioned neutrino saying they may need to scale down naval, not sure how true this is. But naval is the last thing that needs scaling down esp since it was a stretch goal. Considering the fact that we will have water planets & in pa you can have an entire base built on water, naval should be as high a priority as everything else....

I think by "scale down" neutrino meant to reduce the physical size of naval units. Currently they look pretty out of place size wise.

If everything is a high priority than nothing is a high priority.

If it does get "scaled back" – then that would more accurately be described as "postponed."

Uber plans on continually developing PA and adding to it even after it gets "released."

Don't worry. It'll be there. Just may be delayed.

Well I'm hoping for an update around the inter-planetary war element, because that's the part of the game which is the big selling point, yet also entirely broken right now.

Hoping for further advances in interplanetary but would be cool to see the coms get those extra abilities & a button for uber canon =)
