wow just wow. (I had the mindstorm set)

I feel like posting some of my works but I don't have the balls. but the treadmill build and the Micro scale builds particularly caught my attention.

The explosion noise's you hear just before killing the last guy (59mins) is the sound of a metal extractor thumping metal out of the ground, the booms coincide with the rise and fall of the extractors drilling bit.

I'm still watching this from Destiny's POV before I flick over to yours, but **** it's good to see someone show some action early in the game. No doubt I'll be back shortly to complain about you going easy on him :)

BTW, the dev keeps talking about defences using energy, but if I recall my patch notes that's not actually in the game yet, right?

EDIT: He's calling you a pro gamer, Zaphod. This is great to watch,it's like you're toying with him :)

I would go easy on Destiny too.

I mean, in MNC and SMNC, everyone who thought they were good got a 6 man team together to stomp a game of 6 separate new players while the 1v1 player skill gap was already high so if you were better than someone you already would never lose 1v1.

That game's players made the game lose popularity. Nobody wants to play a game where you have to be good AND find 6 good friends, or you go 0-20 k-d every game and get farmed for fun at your spawn. It was way too "pro only". The few players who played it had handfuls of new ones join overtime due to people picking it up playing 5 games and dropping it.

Destiny is an RTS veteran, sure. You can't argue that StarCraft series is a whole nother setup though. To play that probably took him more time grinding it than he cares to share. This game has different buttons to do things, some buttons that never existed in any game before, some buttons that are missing, no documentation of those buttons for new players, some necessary selections that are somewhat ambiguous and hidden, and no UI to assist the player in map awareness. It is beta, those are expected of the game. Those are reasons however to lighten up on the new player.

The problem is if you let him tech every time he will continue to tech every game and give the impression that it's a slow game with a pointless T1. Players like Destiny improve through their losses.

The best marketing this game could get through Destiny is him playing an aggressive opening with scouting and T1 and lots of activity. He won't do that unless he sees it working for other players.

It's like you guys haven't been present in Destiny's chat. People aren't going "Wow, I love how there's long periods of nothing happening where we just watching stuff build and games take 40-60 minutes!"

It's the Starcraft crowd, they want to see fast, decisive action. I would bet money that the chat's favourite part of the Zaphod FFA was when Destiny was panicking while Zaphod advanced on him. I wish I'd been in the chat to confirm, damn time zones.

EDIT: I love around 11:50 when Zaphod is describing why FFAs are usually boring and rubbish and ends with "...*sigh* yeah".

Yeah, destiny has an account with the forums, I don't know why he didn't borrow some advice for opening strategy...

...along with having looked up the game controls lol.

Destiny, if you are hearing this, build multiple scattered small pockets of mex/pp/turret/factory, and build some army to push out across the planet, and build artillery/radar stations, and get your hands dirty within the first 10 minutes of the game! Don't even t2 until then! C'mon man, if your hearing me, build out and raid some early-game mexes with your armies!

I agree that the players should push him more. You can have these types of games in SC2 too, when both sides just sit there camping and building Sim City, until they get the biggest units they can get.

Problem is, that's the ONLY kind of game we're seeing on Destiny's streaming right now. Which is kind of boring.

I dont think you can get much more than that in FFA.

I don't know, I didn't watch his stream. But maybe he's getting away with teching to T2, because he's playing against inexperienced players? I made the experience that if I play against better players on pub, then the game becomes much more dynamic (which is only natural), and that I had a much more difficult time teching up to T2.

Especially if I'm in FFA and have three players attacking me all at once.

But yeah it's the typical Starcraft 2 attempt. You need to upgrade to be competitive.

Edit: I'd love to record a video of me playing some time. But fraps is only recording 30 seconds at once, seems like I'd have to buy it. Also I did not do any commentating, yet in my life.

Why does Destiny talk such complete **** at the beginning of this video (4min)?

How can a Starcraft 2 player of all people believe that bollocks? Literally no one is going to advise you learn Starcraft 2, or any RTS for that matter, through massive FFAs. I don't think there's an RTS in existence where FFAs, never mind massive FFAs, are an accurate representation of anything other than FFA.
