People keep saying they are waiting for more units to be added, but what ones do we think are missing? I dont mean really unusual ones, but standard ones that would be expected to be there? From my point of view these are missing: Air Transports Orbital transports (LARGE ONES please) Rocket bots Missle tanks Laser bots Radar jammers What does everyone else see as missing?
My current list of missing units - t1 orbital transport, fighter and radar - t1/t2 air transports - t1 artillery bot/tank - t2 missile bot/tank - t2 anti intel bot/tank/ship (either jammer or something that creates lots of blibs, preferably both) - t1/t2 missile defense units
Radar bots, Stealth/Submersible Tanks, Super Fast Bots, Slow-Heavy Lazer Bots, UltraHeavy/ForceShield Tank, Penetrator Tank, Stealth Sniper, EMP/Stunner, Annihilator, Resurrect bot, Walking Bomb, Jump-Jet Sumo Bot, Teleporting Tanks, Gunship Bot Built from the Air Tech 2 Factory, Dox Cannon, Galactic Teleporter, Unit Vacuum, Giant-Mega-Orbital-TroopTransport-Gunship-Carrier and Massive Bot. Giant planetary orbital vacuum bot as seen in Space Balls. Would be cool if Massive Bots could go orbital for a lot of energy. Superman Bot for deflecting meteors.
I didn't list torpedo bombers because I thought standard bombers could already do that? Also I didn't list mobile radar as I thought scouts could already do that? @bytestream, mostly the same as my list, but you make the important distinction between arty and missile bots/tanks. Plus that leads to the much needed anti missile bots! @bastilean, lots of great suggestions ;-) but most need new mechanics (EMP, teleporter, shields, resurrect, submersible, hover etc) which I wouldn't consider part of the core units. Walking bomb is a must though and a gunship bot is interesting - A gunship that could be targeted by both land and air units may be a good way to balance their speed.

Sorry but they are. The barest bones are what's on offer right now. PA has no flair, no style and no cohesive direction with its current unit roster. Hence, All of the units are missing at present. What do you want? A unit suggestion thread? We've had so many of those, including one started by Jon Neutrino Mavor himself that I say it is you who are posting 'un-useful' comments.
At the very least you go too far. At worst you are demotivating the developers with comments like that. PA has a style, it has flair and it has a cohesive direction. It is consistent mainly with TA and also to some extent Supcom both of which were apparently games you care about enough to come here. You just cant see how close PA is to being a great RTS... thats your loss. Now talk about something useful, like specific units you can see are missing that haven't already been mentioned.
I would if I thought it would make a difference. What makes you think your thread is superior to the one started by the developers for the same purpose?
Fair enough and a good call. I felt it wasn't focused enough. It was about unusual units. This is about units that we should all expect to be there.
One: 'should be there' is such a wildly subjective way to look at things. Two: Those things that are obviously missing to some, such as style or cohesiveness are 'obviously' present for others. I'm not saying you're wrong about PA having a decent unit roster; but you certainly aren't right about it either. It's all opinion. Three: The choice for what constitutes a standard unit is completely up in the air at the moment. Uber have not confirmed what their plans are for what a 'basic' unit is, nor for what an 'advanced' unit is... hell they haven't even done away with the flawed T1 < T2 mechanics yet. Your distinction between what is adding units, and units that are currently missing is a meaningless distinction. Everyone has a different opinion on what is essential and what is not. My suggestion is that you don't clutter up the forums with yet another 'My thread about adding units' post, and instead, go back to the official thread and try to steer it in a better direction.
A customer, or Kickstarter backer has no obligation to "be nice", "play nice" or "motivate" the devs. An awesome and wonderful community member may take it upon themselves to have a positive tone to their posts, but you should remember this is essentially a business. Sometimes has to tell the cold hard truth even if it's not sugar coated. And Nanolathe is right, the unit roster just isn't there yet, and this includes the use and balance of what we have now. Uber will step up with deploying the full roster for sure and rebalance. As long "it's still beta", PA gets a free pass, but once they decide to say it's "Launch", it's open season.
Yes it subjective. Thats the point of forums. To discuss. I think that most people are expecting units from the TA/Supcom RTS stream. I would like to know what key units are still missing rather than new ideas of possible units. Its a different thread.
Come on... name one unit type that hasnt been named above? At least then I have something useful to criticize.
