    Commander AI was also a big weakness in Supreme Commander 2.

    Makes sense, because we don't have complex commander abilities yet. Honestly, I see this as a very complex problem to address; more so in SupCom2 than PA, because of the massive role commanders had in SupCom2. I think if you had time to work on SupCom2 again adding an option for the AI to attempt to Commander Rush you would have been fun to work on and fun to play against, possibly even helping new players learn mitigating strategies.

    In TA the commander's role past the 10 minute mark is far more timid and would want to focus on security especially from air snipes; however in PA I am curious about whether there will be a commander factory (Avatar Factory?) and whether this will affect how timid/defensive the Commanders are. If you have 5 and could build more the AI might feel more confident throwing a couple into the fray or sending some to the moon.

    the avatar and avatar factory are internal dev units that just generate a **** ton of resources for purposes of more rapid testing. I don't think we'll ever see those in un-modded PA

    Are the AI names open for suggestion? I thought it'd be nice to have some named after the people who, like sorian, have slaved away on improving AI in games like Total Annihilation, SUPCOM, Dawn of War, Kohan II...

    Failing that, can you ensure that they're at least moddable so I can do it?

    Make the highest AI level called "sorian" :)

    They are in a json file on the server side.

    I may also take suggestions for names at some point in the future.

    One of them should be named Bob.

    Idk why but I always think the name Bob gets funnier the more strange a thing you give such a mundane moniker.

    Btw, I'm thinking that the reason AI still uses air fabbers is because until naval support is implemented, it has no other options in the water.

    Has anyone else noticed that, if you destroy the AIs units without significant losses to your own (I.e. naval or air superiority, winning the land war, etc), sooner or later the AI will march his best combat unit (I.e his commander )into your main economic centre and die an honorable death?


    This is quite distinct from the situation where the AI becomes fixated on building on a particular mex and marches his commander over to it through your army/base

    So that's... That explains a lot.

    That will be another nightmare for Sorian to tackle once Neural networks are implemented.



    Losing 50 units to kill one isn't efficient, but losing one unit to kill 50 is...

    I like the honorable death of the AI.

    Makes it seem like a king who will die for his people then a king that sits while his people die.

    I vote keep the "HonorableDeath" into the AI.

    So if Inter planetary nukes have been added. does that mean there is just one more thing to be afraid of when facing the AI?

    @neutrino recently said in the live stream he's thinking about buffing anti-nukes anyway, so I doubt we'd see a scenario where they are even less effective.
