    Sounds exciting :)

I got a question actually, which of those settings can I change to darken daytime significantly? All the ones I've experimented with have very little effect on day, just night.

@RMJ: I agree more color/saturation would be a good addition as well. (getting it closer to the kickstart vid) I'm pretty sure they are planning on adding some color enhancing post processing. (This is also why I don't think HDR should be used to 'solve' the planet lighting issue, only to assist. The base ambient lighting is the main issue here, as Nix has shown us.)

@Nix: Wow those screenshots make the game look much better. The really dark one 0.1 ambient light looks great. All they need is to add the vehicle/building lights, and they basically have it.

You can mess around with the hdr values so when it is full night, you can still see stuff, but when it is partial day, you still get the "ooooo, pretty!" effect.

    I'll continue my experimentations.

side-note, in the commander files you can up the intensity of the headlights. I think you can do all sorts of fun things with them.

Yeah i definitely agree. I didn know they were relying on that alone to solve it, that definitely explains the problem to me.

That's pretty big imo. I mean how much bigger should it get? :)
There's a certain point where bigger doesn't mean "better" anymore.

Edit: I just created a 2000 radius planet in the system editor myself. It took relatively long to load, but I didn't have any fps drops whatsoever. The last builds really improved this game a lot.

The way the HDR system works is by taking an average of the brightness levels on screen and exposing the virtual camera to that value. There's a minimum exposure value to keep the darks from getting too bright, but there's no specific setting to adjust the exposure to darken the final image, though it wouldn't be too hard to add.

are you guys currently perfecting it or just putting it that way for the multiplayer community or was it really that you guys didn't like the nights that where too dark or the adjustment time?

I think iff we put this planet has a square flat map,we will have about 100x100 or moore what its too big and not means good gameplay.
So yes i agreed with you ,that bigger doesn't mean "better" anymore.

But i like big planets since its the moore close to flat maps.

And i think i have make notice i dont like sphere maps, because its a big problem, that you must turn and turn and turn and turn the planet ,to see 50% off what is happend.

Not talk to other issius that belong to other posts.
